Hi @manclar, my mother used to say that phrase to me too, though I don't think it was as loving as yours. The analogy between this phrase and the "warnings" of danger found in nature is very interesting. In my case, your analogy reminded me of my mother again.
Without saying a word, just with a look, she could tell you: Don't even think about it!!
