From dread to delight - a tale of how my alarm clock went from my enemy to my ally๐Ÿ˜โœจ

My alarm went off again, and I had to snooze it angrily! Yes, I was the one who set it to that particular time, but can't it be disobedient for once!

I'm actually not in the mood for anything "work" right now. I just want to lay on the bed and sleep all day!

This alarm sef, is becoming a nuisance, I said in my mind. But I can't still put it off it at the same time, because it practically keeps me in check.

This was me, a year ago. How i hate the alarm! The way it just jares me back to conciousness SUDDENLY give me headache!

Well, I would say my ex hostel mate contributed to my hating the alarm "thingy" in its entirety.

Because, tell me, how will you set an alarm to wake you up, and everyone will be woken up except you! And you see it as normal ๐Ÿ™‚.

I practically wake up at any slightest noise, now imagine an alarming blaring in the hostel room. Arghhhhhh๐Ÿ™‰!

It really affected my view on setting alarms, because I just sort of assumed it is just there to make unnecessary noise. And I still saw it as incompetent, because if you're really meant to wake people up, why do you wake up everyone else, and not the person that needs to be woken up.

LOL ๐Ÿ˜‚. What a warped view.

Well, not until I decided to keep tabs on my activities and I decided to time myself each day, because I have come to realize overtime that, if I didn't organise my to-do, I'm definitely going to run through the day anyhow, and I won't still do half of what I'm meant to do.

So, I decided to give alarm a trial ๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿ˜‚.

I started by setting alarm from my waking moment till late in the afternoon.

And it worked! I actually realize that timing myself, and having the alarm remind me at intervals that it is time to move to the next thing, actually worked๐Ÿคธ๐Ÿ˜ƒ!

And gradually, I fell in love with it, and the previous experience i had of it, gradually left.

I could remember a day, like that, I was meant to be in a meeting with my HOD (Head of director), and I had to sleep at the same time, because prior to that time, I had to read over the night, exam was around the corner, so every corner has student trying to meet up with their academic books. So morning was always the sleeping time, well not for everyone though, but for me.

And I set the alarm to 15 minutes ahead of when I was to meet my head of directors, I also told my roommate to make sure they wake me up!

Imagine my shock, when I woke up, and I discovered that this people had left me in the room, all of them! Ha ๐Ÿฅบ! I can't imagine what it would have been like, but my alarm came to the rescue ๐Ÿ™ˆโค๏ธ! Such a sweet soul. LOL.

I was able to meet my HOD, and guess what, he gave us a very vital information that if I had missed, would have affected me really bad.

That is just one out of the many times, alarm had come through for me.

I even remember cheating the alarm once๐Ÿคค๐Ÿ˜.

Yes na.

Before it rang, I was up and running already, I'm sure the poor thing will feel really bad that day, but then, we have chosen to be productive, so why not, doesn't matter who woke who, the goal is to be awake๐Ÿคธ๐Ÿ˜‚!

So dear friend, need I remind you that alarm are not meant to wake you up alone, but to also help you time yourself to achieve more productive hours in the day.

It is an intentional act from my end, for someone who hated alarm a whole lot, but now, I can say that, it is one of my biggest time manager ๐Ÿ™ˆ.

And the good part, you can actually use your favourite song to set your alarm.

Sweet Innit ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคธ

I don't know how that works, but it usually is the case that it is the others around that wake up when the alarm goes off and not the setter of the alarm ๐Ÿ˜‚

It all boils down to setting it properly at the end of the day and doing what works for you. As for me, I am not a fan of the repeated sounds of reminders, so I just use Google tasks for reminders instead, unless I need to sleep and be woken a a specific time.

Yes, it is sweet o. Time is money so being on time for the things you have prepared to do saves your brain cells from overworking. It's good you found the beauty in that noise maker though

Jesu, you literally have an alarm set for almost everything? I'm shocked๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚. Can never be me. I only use alarms when I have exams to read for. The moment I'm done, everything gets turned off. My sleep becomes very important and every other thing will be done at my pace.

Wow.

That works best for you.
The reason I did that was because I tend to forget things, so alarm makes me remember that I have this coming up next ๐Ÿ˜ƒ.

Hehe! Alarms have never bothered me. I don't use them to time myself but to wake me up and help me remember things like taking a medicine.
But I remember a time when I was younger when my husband was annoyed that I would set the alarm and keep sleeping a while longer after it had gone off, but he would wake up and not be able to go back to sleep ๐Ÿคฃ. I had to get out of that habit for the sake of the marriage, lol.

๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜ƒ.

I'm glad you did.

And thank God he was a patient man, not everyone likes to be awaken rudely from sleep.
