A random day, in the life of a Nigeria student

Tuesdays have to be the longest day ever for me. People say Monday is a long day for them, but for me, Tuesday it is.

Waking up very early in the morning, doing your normal morning ritual of praying, studying the scripture and declaring into your day, and still trying to think of what to cook before you leave the house for class. And at the same time, you must not get late to class, else...

Whoosh!

This particular Tuesday was a rollercoaster, I was almost tempted to call it quit and tell my parents that I'm not going to school again o 😅, they should come and collect their money from the University.

I woke up quite late, and that could be traced to the fact that I slept really latetge night before. By the time I was waking up the next morning, it was already past 7:30am, I just knew I had to cancel out on a whole lot of things I'm meant to do that morning.

Because tell me, how I'm meant to get to a class before 9am, when by past 7:30am, I'm still so disorganized.

I just stood up from the bed, mumble a little prayer here and there, didn't even bother to open the scripture.

I dashed into the bathroom like I was being pursue, ran the water over my body, and in five minutes, I was out.

This particular part of it, was funny to me though. Because, the normal me, wouldn't come out of the bathroom till I'm soooo satisfied, but who born me?

By past 8, I was done, and I started trekking to the junction where I will get a bus to take me down to campus.

But ho boy, it was like all the drivers went on a break. No buses at the junction, which meant my trekking to the garage will continue.

At this point, I was already getting frustrated, because why does it have to be today when I'm in such a haste?

I finally saw one while trekking, and oh my, I was so glad.

I entered the bus, and noticed we were just two in the bus, well, that was not an issue, let's just get to the school premises early so I can get in before my lecturer.

We have not even moved 3 minutes, when this driver stopped, and started looking for passengers 😭.

You know how it is in Lagos, the driver go around looking for who is going towards his destination and cajole them to enter his own bus. And trust me, it is more or less like a game, anyone could decide which bus they want to enter.

Few people later joined us though, and the bus was almost filled, remaining about 4 spaces left to be filled. And trust me, no one seems to be going our route.

I kept looking at my wristwatch at intervals, "8:40am!"
OMG, at this point, I didn't realize when I shouted at the driver,

"Can we go sir!"

And almost everyone looked towards me, like who is this?

But I didn't care, I was running late. The driver didn't even did like he heard me at all.

After a while, we moved. And in my mind, I was just like, "can this man just runnnnn! Speed speed😅"

Anyways, I got to campus and started "walk-running" to the department.

Immediately I stepped into the class, I noticed almost everyone was sitted already, except the class rep. But that is not my business anyways, he knows how to enter all the lecturers even if he comes late to class

I immediately looked for an empty chair, sat down and checked my watch to see if I beat the time "9:05am."

Well, I tried, moreover the lecturer is not in class yet too.

I looked around me, said hi to few people. I was about bringing out my book to quickly go over the last topic we had, when the class rep came in, bearing bad news.

"The class has been cancelled" he said.

My head went on a spin!
"Cancelled?" I muttered to no one in particular.

Some people started jubilating, but I couldn't!

Because, tell me, after all the stress of trying to meet up with the class, not eating and every other thing I had to go through, the class ended up being cancelled 🥺.

Well, if it was in my capacity to do, I would gladly go to the lecturer office, and drag him down to the class myself 😅.

I had to go look for something to eat sha, before my next class which is by 10am, because if you die, you die for yourself o 😅.

Anyways, my other classes held, and I finished all by 5pm.

I had to go for tutorial by 5:30pm, which ended by 7:30pm. Went for church meeting, which ended by 8:30pm.

Finally got home by 9:15pm thereabout, and oh boy, my bed has never looked more inviting.

Being a Nigeria student is not easy, and I really can't wait to be done with this phase of my life.

Though, I'm trying to enjoy all the moment also, because they definitely will become memories.

This has to be the most frustrating thing the life of a student😂 missing breakfast just to meet up with the class only to get there and the class is being cancelled, at that point you will be so mad at yourself and the lecturer😂😂

I hope you enjoy this phase of your life though☺️

Jeees, I had no idea life is such a chaos in your country. The bus driver's behavior is shocking to say the least.

Life of a student, we can all relate 😂. I once woke up at 7am, and I had lectures by 8. I still can't explain how I was able to meet up.
