Unhealthy Association Causing Harm To A Bright Future

Walking through the streets of the community, I've come across lots of promising young teenage child who at some point in their life thread on parts they were not supposed to follow and the end point of it was a disastrous one. Some were mislead by bad influence that is the friends they kept, while some walked into it because they had not choice and must survive in this harsh world.
Lots of teenagers has been lead into all sorts of mischief, doing all sorts of illegal Job in the name of making money 💰. The most hurtful part of it is that majority of them loses their life in the process, become mentally illed and so many other negative effects. Another annoying factor is their rejection to learn from each other's mistake. they go about with the slogan that says "life is all about risk taking" yes! It's not wrong to take risk because for bigger opportunities you must take a bold step to achieving it. But mind you not all steps/risks are worth taking at all yeah!! How do one endangers their beautiful life and call it risk taking like seriously!! What about the terrible outcome hmmmm I guess 🤔 they don't think about it or they know but choose to neglect it.
But it always breaks me apart when I see someone I know fall victims to this unforseen circumstances. and that lead me writing the story of a dear friend who at some point in life fell for the wrong association. I came across someone I know very well right from our early days in high school that's about five years back. Catherine an intelligent girl, we both attended same highschool and lived in the same neighborhood.
Like I said earlier she was an intelligent girl and also the star ⭐ of the school She became most teachers favorite and represented the school in divers competition. many students started to envy her because of the favour and praises she normally receives. Her impact in my life cannot be under estimated cause She was one of the persons that encouraged me never to be lazy when it comes to reading and writing and I must confess I heed to her advice and it really has been helpful to me. Rounding up with highschool, a lot of things changed and at this point she stopped talking to me and found for herself new sets of friends and I became an old fashion and a boring person like she told me. To be sincere I was embarrassed and mocked by her new friends that made me cried like a baby that wants to get into the arms of her mama. It was an unforgettable day I must say, But then it encouraged me to work on my self the more. Our final year in school, Catherine behavior grew worst to the extent she and her friends skipped classes regularly. most times they were caution by the school authority and were dealt with severely and at times they have there ways out even with the tight security in school. Thou we are not in good terms but I still manage to advise her countless times when ever our part cross but it yield to no good result. it seems like I was pouring water on a rock. I did all I could to convince her that she was walking with the wrong set of people trust me. After passing out, she furtherd her education And her lifestyle grew worst all because of her choice of friends and the decisions she made.
Her second year in the University she lost her dad and things became worse for her and her mom. I felt pity for them actually. That was when she and her mom packed out from the neighborhood and I never saw her up on till some days back when I went to visit a friend of mine who lived in another town. Coming out of my friend's house I was waiting to get a bike to the junction but there was none, all the ones that passed us were with passengers already. So she advised we walk some distance away from the house till I get a bike. at that point we were both thirsty because of the scorching sun. luckily I saw a woman hawking sachets water and we stopped her to buy.
I could not recognize the hawker but then she called out my name. I was surprised but then she did a proper introduction of herself and that was when I managed to recall the face it was Catherine from highschool. Honestly she look older than her age,her light skin had turned dark skinned.i was really confused and i needed to know about all that happened.thank God she had a small phone so I collected her number to schedule a day to meet up with her. We fixed a convenient place and met, that was when she told me about her story.

After her father passed away, life became unbearable for her in school. her friends led her to all sorts of stuff for her to take care of her self and she followed them. Not just that one day they were caught cheating in the examination hall and were expelled from school. She got pregnant out of wedlock afterward , but few days after delivery she lost her child to the cold hands of death.she has to start hawking and the unfavorable weather and condition made her older than her age .
It was such a pathetic story 😭 I gave her my own piece of advice and encouraged her that it wasn't over yet. like the popular saying goes "a living dog is better than a dead lion". And also when there is "life there is hope as well". I also encourage her to take up a skill and thank God She was encouraged and gave me a cute smile.

This is just one of the terrible things that can happen and I hope we teach our children and younger ones the danger of making out with corrupt friends nor taking decisions that's unhealthy. Nevertheless Life has really taught Mary so hard and I believe she has learnt her lesson and would heed to my advice and encouragement this time around.
