Premium or nothing

If there is one thing I detest so much, then it should be working where I have no peace of mind and this was a typical example of my former place of work. I know there are heartless people but I for one never thought I'll encounter one so soon but anyways I did. Due to the fact there was nothing like holiday in my place of work since it was a one man enterprise, wasn't much of a problem since we signed it right from day one accepting to be a worker there and that too between we the workers we found a way to excuse ourselves from work when necessary with or without permission.

The issue was that he never appreciates anyone no matter how much work a person put in to carry out his or her duty effectively, the worst of all was that harsh words (insults) was not far from his lips like if there was one thing we always run from was his bad mouth. Yes he has the money and we don't, aside the money we can't even reply him back cause it would be seen as disrespect. Me personally I tried my possible best not to collide with him and glad I did not.

Even due to the situation of the state as at then where kidnap was the order of the day, this man don't mind making us to work for an extra time at a norm we were to close by 9:00pm afternoon shift but whenever we run extra time we close by 10:00pm before going in to close account its already 10: 30pm which means am reaching home by 11:00pm. A lot of people resigned from the work cause of stress and I was on the verge of leaving as well. Before concluding when to leave, I remembered how my colleagues and I decided to go meet him in his office to lessen our work hours if not for anything but for our safety we were so scared but had no option. Good for us a good number of the admin department and his good friends coming to visit from time to time talked to him and he decided to change.

After his tremendous change the working environment became more conducive as there was nothing like an extra time and that too we closed earlier than the usual time. For every month end he tends to reward the three best workers with a cash price which brought back the hardworking spirit in us. The extra cash was a whole lot and it made the place even more enjoyable I mean who don't like extra tipping? I guess no one. 😊

Even after everything, I was willing to leave as work was becoming tedious and all that but I executed my plan after my supervisor literally was becoming a thorn in flesh ever since he asked me out and I declined. Work environment was no longer conducive for me anymore and I don't even feel safe working with him. I made it clear to myself my safety and peace of mind is very paramount to me and I won't let anyone trample on it. So when am no longer safe in a place, no matter how much am been paid i make sure to quit as soon as I can.
