Hola amigos de Hive Music Festival, En esta semana quise traer un tema que compuse en el año 2004, producto de una situación bastante delicada que me tocó vivir. Por respeto a los sentimientos ajenos, no mencionaré aquí a los protagonistas, pero lo cierto es que fue una vivencia bastante desagradable.

Hello friends from Hive Music Festival, This week I wanted to bring a song that I composed in the year 2004, the result of a rather delicate situation that I had to live through. Out of respect for the feelings of others, I will not mention the protagonists here, but the truth is that it was a quite unpleasant experience.

Gracias a un amigo terminé viviendo en un rancho de zinc en Venezuela. Para quienes no lo sepan, un rancho aquí es una casa muy pobre, una choza; mientras que en México un rancho es algo próspero, como una hacienda.

Thanks to a friend, I ended up living in a zinc shack in Venezuela. For those who don’t know, a shack here is a very poor house, a hut; while in Mexico a ranch is something prosperous, like a hacienda.

Después de 17 años de relación formal, surgió una gran problemática por confiar en alguien que consideraba mi amigo, quien practicaba ciertas creencias esotéricas populares en mi país. Para completar, me ausenté tres meses en un estudio de trabajo social en Holguín, Cuba. No me fui por interés académico, sino por la oportunidad de viajar en avión y conocer otra cultura.

After 17 years of a formal relationship, a big problem arose from trusting someone I considered my friend, who practiced certain popular esoteric beliefs in my country. To complete the story, I was absent for three months doing a social work study in Holguín, Cuba. I didn’t go because of academic interest, but because of the opportunity to travel by plane and get to know another culture.

Durante ese tiempo tuve un sueño que me parecía imposible, pero al regresar descubrí que todo había cambiado: mi pequeña empresa, el prestigio, la fama, incluso mis hijos… no tenía nada. Había sido expropiado por aquel amigo a quien una vez le tuve que salvar la vida, y algunos fueron víctimas otros fueron cómplices.

Today, although I have no riches, my heart is calm. Those who love me, love me for who I am and not for what I have, and that is deeply satisfying.
