ɪᴍᴀɢᴇ ᴅᴇᴘɪᴄᴛɪᴏɴ: ᴛʜᴇ ᴇɴᴅ ᴏғ ᴀɴ ᴇʀᴀ.

I consider photograph to be one the greatest invention of mankind, ability to capture a moment of immense significance, make it still and visit it forever. It grants humans the privilege of preserving our memories, knowing fully well that time does not necessarily worry about the living or care about our memories. How do we race against an element with no consciousness of its effect on the beings that lives through it, out of the abundance of one thing we the living have over "time", is longing to make our existence last as much as we can.
Out of the desperation for longing, we birthed an astonishing invention that continues to remain immune to the passage of time. Photographs is how we can look back at specific moment in our lives and begin to ponder about what led to it.
My participation in social events might be limited but I try my best to capture memorable moments as much as I can. One thing about students is our likeness for taking photographs, thanks to the availability of smart digital devices like our smartphones, it has made it less difficult to perform this act without needing the help of a professional photographer.
As a student, even if you are the type that is unwilling to participate in taking photographs, it is either you feel the urge to do so once in a while to capture memorable moments or you get dragged into group pictures by your colleagues, it is one trait common among students.

Speaking of a picture that tells a story, well I have plenty of them but then there are some pictures that tells a story about our academic journey, a story that can never be revisited or reinvented, just one in a lifetime kind of story captured in an image. A story of where I was once and great people I encountered, it was one of a kind group picture that captures the students that made it to final year in my department.
My school is not an easy place to be, I once described my school as a huge pressure cooker in one of my post. It is survival of the fittest, it is almost impossible to pull through in my school if you are not mentally and physically strong and prepared for the challenges that comes with being a student of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic.
This picture was taken at the end of our final year departmental week. The last day was sport day, after the whole planned sport events ended, we gathered together and took this historical picture. It has remained in my gallery ever since, preserving the memories and images of friends and special encounters.
This write-up was inspired by weekly prompt "Pictures" in hive student connect community.

There’s nothing quite like photographs to make us recall those bygone times. As the years go by, we’ll remember the person we once were, the moments we lived, and the friendships that—because life has its peculiar ways—took other paths, other journeys. But how wonderful it is to immortalize these moments, filled with deep nostalgia—yes, that’s very true—with the same wistfulness that, for example, a song like "Yesterday" by The Beatles conveys. Yet also with the healthy pride of having lived unforgettable moments with intensity and passion. Excellent post, my friend. I sincerely congratulate you.
You have said it all.
