There's this popular saying that “experience is the best teacher.” Over time, I have seen the reality of that saying manifest itself in my life in diverse ways.

Life is not a joke. If you are someone who is trying to make it in life from zero, you would understand what I am trying to say clearly.

I have seen people struggle hard, I have seen people work tirelessly, and I have seen people labor wholeheartedly on things with little or no results.

While I was growing up, when I saw people complain over such things, I thought they were lazy, until I got there too.

It is very easy to tell someone, “You are faint-hearted, you easily lose hope, you easily give up,” and the like, if you have not been there before.

Honestly, some people have tried; they gave their all, expecting to have better results, only for things to give them the opposite. Some consistently tried things and consistently failed.

As humans, repeated failure and disappointments reduce passion and gusto.

This is why you see many people giving up after trying things. They will labor, invest their time, resources, and energy, only to let everything go at a point.

Sadly, for many, that point which they let go is where they were supposed to start breaking through, but they gave up already.

I know life is not easy, I know how failures and disappointment hurt, but we don't have to let them deprive us of reaching the mark.

One thing I noticed with people who have succeeded or are beginning to profit from whatever they are pursuing in life is that they never gave up.

Ask them to tell you about their career journey, and you would be amazed that they struggled at some points. Some might even tell you they stopped at some point and still resumed because they knew they had no other option.

It's a simple principle: those who don't quite eventually win, whether you are smart or not. This is why you see people who are not educated doing wonders in certain fields.

You will see someone who barely speaks good English being able to build things that someone who is so smart and eloquent can't.

I don't have any motivational words to give anyone, but this year, the message I have for you is “don't give up on that thing you are embarking on.” It might not be going the way you want, but please stay with it.

For once endure, remain, and allow yourself master it through the pains, the disappointment, and failures.
