The Other Side Of Time Travel

Time travel is something most people would love to explore. One of the limitations we have as humans is the inability to either go back or ahead in time.

We can only live in the present; what lies in the past is a memory, and what lies in the future remains a mystery.

Naturally, most humans would want to travel back in time to fix certain mistakes and travel into the future to see what lies ahead.

There is this feeling we often have that if only we can see what is ahead, somehow, it will become an advantage.

Since we are not yet there, we can use the information to either put in more effort to make what we see a reality, that is, if it is good, or make an effort to change the narrative if it is terrible.

But I think there is a reason why man isn't given the ability to see the future before it arrives or to go back in time.

The truth is, as beautiful as the idea of time travel might sound, it can result in disaster in the lives of many people.

We may feel like, if we can see the future, we can do something about it. Well, I won't dispute any opinion, but don't be surprised that for many, seeing that future may end up becoming their doom.

For instance, someone might see something great lying ahead, instead of putting more energy, he/she might become relaxed, giving little energy, thinking that it's automatic.

Another person might see a terrible future and, instead of doing something about it, might end up giving up completely. I know the opposite can happen too, but let's not get carried away by that.

This is why I don't really buy the idea of time travel, humans are motivated by mysteries, the unknown stirs our hope, energy, and passion.

Nevertheless, seeing how crucial it is, everyone desires to be remembered after the impact they have made in the world, if I am given the chance to see the future and I see that I am not remembered even after all the contribution I did to humanity, I will feel bad honestly.

But since it's life, I will return to the present and continue my life. If I am doing something evil, I will work on it and ensure I stop but if I am good and I am doing what is expected of me, I will enjoy my life and contribute my part to humanity, regardless of what I saw.

First of all, I am not living for my name to be remembered or to enter into history; my desire is to do good and fulfill destiny, affecting people's lives positively. Whether or not they remember my acts years later, it is up to them.

There were many people who did great things in our society, but their names never came into the limelight. Life is not first of all about recognition.

If the most important thing about life is for our names to live on, then I am afraid that when that doesn't happen, it will be as if we have failed.

Play your role, affect those lives, and let them do whatever they want to do with your name later.

One of the dangerous things about this kind of journey is that many people who find out that humans won't appreciate them by atleast remembering their works and names after they are gone, might end up getting discouraged and probably become selfish.

I am not against time travel, but it's something we need to take a second thought before embarking on.
