Some Things Nigeria Is Known For

One amazing thing with life is the fact that everything that has a bad side also has a good side and vice versa.

Probably nature made it that way to remind us that everything has the ability to either make or destroy, but it depends on which side we pick.

Different countries are known for different things: technology, politics, religious activities, peace, sport, and so on. Wherever a citizen of that country goes, they are respected for those things.

The good name their country has bestowed upon them has become an advantage to the citizens.

No matter how bad a country is, no matter its bad reputation, when it comes to that very area, it stands for them.

Nigeria is known for many things, many years ago, it was a respected country, it was truly the giant of Africa, known to possess the true qualities of a giant.
The country is known for a number of good things, but I will focus on morality and respect for elders to be precise.

One thing is common across the nation, “respect,” there are diverse ethnic groups and different states and local governments yet each culture encourages this trait.

Unless a person chooses to be otherwise, you can easily identify someone from Nigeria by how respectful they are, especially in conversations.

Words like “Ma” and “Sir", are highly used to show respect and greetings are always accompanied by physical demonstration, like squatting, prostration, or slightly bending the head. Respect is our thing, it runs in our blood.

Another thing that is very popular in Nigeria is religion, we value religion so much. There are different religions here but three are common, Christianity, Islam and traditional worshippers.

We are known for our level of dedication to our religions. There are churches and mosques everywhere you go to make it easy for people to worship.

Activities like fasting, prayers and so on are highly esteemed. I have heard of people who said they fasted for 200 days.

Miraculous activities are also very common, and people are moved by them. We value our religions just like we value our lives.

On the other side, one bad thing Nigerians are known for is fraud. Anywhere Nigeria is mentioned, the first impression people get internet fraud.

If a Nigerian is seen out there whether young or old, people try to be careful relating with them in order to avoid long stories.

Sadly, this is partly true, most people here have that criminal mindset, they want to reap where they didn't sow. They look for every opportunity to take people's hard earned money.

But I am sure this is not peculiar to Nigeria alone, every country has people like this and one thing most people don't know is that even us in Nigeria also suffer from the hands of those heartless people.

My advice to everyone out there is be vigilant, and be careful with people especially on social media, most of them are fake and are only after your hard earned money.

But does that mean everyone is like that? Certainly, no, you will know the evil ones by their fruits, you just have to be smart enough.

Good point sis. Everything that has a good side, certainly there will always also be a bad side. Nothing is complete in life.

Nigerians are respectable people and people who accommodates others two because of our religious nature.

Thanks for sharing 😍

Orals is surprising; I didn't imagine they use "sir" and "señora" as a form of respect.
