Should Libraries Be Done Away With?

Almost everything is now digitalized and trust me, there are a lot of advantages attached to it even though we are not ignorant of the disadvantages too.

Humans by default don't like stress. Ever since books became digital, libraries have become obsolete. It was as if everyone was just ready for such an invention to come to give up on the traditional way.

To date, I have never visited a library for studies. The last time my friend and I wanted to go there for research, the security told us that the place was filled, and we should go and come back later, that was how we lost interest and never returned.

Seriously, I wonder how our parents cope in their day with all these limitations. No wonder not many people went to school back then because it is not everyone that can go through that kind of stress.

I will be honest with you, I don't like digital books, I don't enjoy reading them as much as I read paperback or traditional books.

The experience with traditional books is often real and more interactive for me than with an e-book. I am someone who loves to mark out points, fold pages, and do a lot more things on my books for remembrance's sake. Some applications allow one to do that on e-books too but they still don't appeal to me.

Well, probably it's because I am not used to it. Maybe if I commit to reading more e-books, I'll begin to enjoy them.

But for now, I prefer the paperback. Let me handle the book with my hands, feel the pages, and play with it however I wanted. Though they are more expensive compared to e-books, I rather buy them at that cost and read with ease.

Having known that I preferred traditional books, one may say this guy is definitely for the library, well, you might not be wrong, however, I think it is high time we move according to the direction of the wind.

The world is now digital, and getting knowledge is now very easy with our smartphones and computers. How many people still visit the library?

People prefer to read e-books or even buy books and read at home. The government should stop wasting resources in building libraries with traditional books, and channel the money to other sectors that are lacking.

But if they insist that they want to assist the citizens by providing a conducive place for them to get materials to study then I'll suggest they find means to replace the library with computers and install all kinds of e-books on them instead of traditional books.

Creating it may cost a lot but the maintenance will be low. The issues of theft of books, decay of books, lack of space to keep books, and upgrading of books would be solved.

E-book books don't get destroyed by water or insects, the only thing that can affect them is the power supply and mismanagement of the computers by people.

The government can ensure proper monitoring of the modern library by employing more security or using Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras.

It won't be nice to completely eradicate libraries from our society, but sometimes studying in such places can help us concentrate better.

Yh, libraries are definitely needed. No matter the parts libraries might lack in we still need them.

This is my point too. Transforming the system into a digital form is wise. If this can't be done, let the funds for libraries be channelled to another thing. Period!

That's the only way out but if it can't be achieved, then they shouldn't waste any money Instead they should channel it to something better.
