Pet Dreams
Our difference with them is the uniqueness with which we were made, but it doesn't change the fact that we are still animals.
My mom brought a chicken home some months back, at first the chicken was scared of people, it was always inside the room where it was kept, but as we continued feeding it and giving it care, the chicken became free and stopped being scared of us.
When it is outside, it runs from people but at home it roams freely and sees us like family.
Animals have feelings and a sense of reasoning too. They may not be able to communicate using languages that we can comprehend but they experience some of the things we experience like fear, love, and they also have memories.
I won't argue if anyone says animals experience dreams. Although, I never thought of it prior to this time.
We used to have a dog but not anymore, unfortunately, I didn't take my time to study it, especially when it is sleeping but dreaming is something that happens to living things that have brains and memories.
Animals have those things, it will not surprise me if they also have dreams both the good and the terrible, just like humans.
How do i know the kind of dream they are experiencing?
Just like humans, sometimes dreams can be identified by the physical demonstration. Most times when people are having good dreams, they smile, laugh or even talk.
And if it's a nightmares, they struggle moving their bodies, or display certain actions that are usual.
I think this also applies to the animals, when it's good dreams, they might be making some funny sounds but for nightmares, they might struggle or make aggressive noise while sleeping. Some might move their legs and so on.
I believe that pets can have dreams, they are alive, they also experience what we experience in this world, both physically and spiritually.

Chickens are always like that, if not all animals, once you take them to a strange place, they will refrain from everybody, just like a human being will behave when they go to a strange /new place. Until they become familiar with the environment and the people around them. I agree with you, since these animals also have brains like humans, their possibility of dreaming is 99.9%.
