Opportunity Comes But Once: A Solo Trip

Traveling is one of the things I love a lot. If not for financial constraints, I wouldn't mind just traveling around the world to discover new places.

So, assuming everything that I need would be put in place, and I am asked to just travel around my country, not for any special assignment but just for the fun of it, nothing would stop me from embracing the offer.

It will be like a dream come true for me because I have the desire to visit certain states in Nigeria, but due to one reason or another, I have not been able to do that.

With this kind of offer on my table, that dream can be realized. Only God knows how happy I will be. I can already imagine myself sitting by the window and viewing places as I travel from place to place.

We know that there are many challenges attached to traveling; some of them can be so bad that they may end up ruining the fun of the exploration.

One of the basic problems I might face on the way would be bad roads. Seriously, some of the roads in Nigeria are very terrible to travel on.

I can remember my recent journey to Kaduna. I was just praying to arrive at my destination safely. That road was very bad, and it's funny how drivers still speed and overtake carelessly on it.

So far, I have never traveled on a road that scared me like that one. Thank God the government is already working on it. I hope they hasten up and also do it properly.

Another problem that is not certain but still worth consideration is the issue of kidnapping. Recently, bandits have been kidnapping people traveling by the road in large numbers.

If God doesn't show you mercy and you mistakenly fall into their hands, you are in trouble. They charge a lot of money for ransom, and sometimes, even after taking the ransom, they still take the lives of their captives.

Although this is not certain while traveling, it is something most people put into consideration before traveling nowadays.

Accidents are another thing. Whenever we decide to travel, and we step into a vehicle and begin to move, it's a risk already because we can't tell what lies ahead.

Even if your driver is good and drives responsibly, you don't know about other drivers out there. Accidents can occur anytime, and we are not even sure what the situation might look like.

I don't even want to talk about stress. Sitting for hours driving can be draining. It's even worse if you are using the public transport.

I can remember a time when I used public transport. I was so compressed by those we were sitting together that both my legs went numb. When I got to my destination, I couldn't walk out of the car.

I summoned strength and forced myself to drop, and guess what? I fell down. I couldn't feel my legs. I had to sit there for several minutes before I started feeling my legs.

Traveling can be so stressful; sometimes, when you get to your destination, your body feels as if you were beaten.

Considering all these, traveling can be scary. This is why most people don't like to travel unless it is mandatory.

But for me, even though there are risks involved and since there is no reward for going on this kind of journey, it looks unworthy of the risk involved.

Nevertheless, if I get the chance, honestly, I'll keep everything aside and still seize the opportunity.
