My Take On Democracy
The aim is to provide a government by the people to the people and for the people regardless of class, status and so on.
It is an initiative to ensure that everyone is recognized, respected, valued and given equal rights irrespective of their backgrounds, color, tribe, etc.
Before the coming of democracy, most places practice the monarchy form of government where a royal line is entitled to lead till they are no more.
This system of government is wonderful but has its limitations, citizens barely have rights in decision making. They are mostly considered as property of the ruler and in most cases, people who are not royal blood can not be rulers. Leadership is more like a family thing.
Democracy, however changed the narrative, it came with liberty for everyone. Citizens have rights in decision making and anyone can contest for any political positions regardless of who they are and where they came from as long as they are from that geographical location.
Democracy came with hope for everyone. Different places saw the light in it and opted for that form of government. Personally, I think it's a nice form of government because different people with different mindsets and idea get to rule.
But the problem lies in the kind of heart the elected have and also because it is based on people voting their choice, there is a tendency of picking the wrong people into power because the majority can be wrong.
Since I grew up and met democracy in Nigeria, It has been like a journey that I would like to describe as “from frying pan to fire.”
It is as if things are becoming worse for each person we elected. Corruption, greed and wickedness has taken over the government and the hearts of men.
Sometimes, when they say elections were rigged and the right candidates was cheated, I ask myself the question, how sure are we that the right choice that we thought would bring positive impact and change is truly right?
We only get good promises during campaigns but when they are entrusted with positions we see the opposite. A candidate can come and swear in the name of his/her God to make a difference only to touch power and become worse.
This has made a lot of people lose hope in the government, it's just like a game and quest for wealth and power. People go into politics for selfish ambitions.
Is there any form of government that may make things better?
The problem is not the system of government. There is nothing wrong with democracy, the problem is the heart of the people.
If good and God-fearing people are in power, of course the narrative will change but where can we find them?
Even if we decided to change the system of government, it won't change anything as far as those in power are driven by evil ambitions.
If we want a better government, we need to work on our hearts and not the system. It is thesame system that other countries are using and progressing, why is yours different?
I can assure you that even if we change from democracy to monarchy or anarchy, it may end up being worse. The solution to our problem is good people.

You made a solid point here. Truly, democracy itself is not the problem but the people who are given power. If leaders had sincere hearts, the system would work better. Change starts with character, not just government structure.
If we have good people in power and even as citizens, I am sure things would be better
