My Take On Apology Videos
Each day our world keeps evolving into something I really can not explain. If not because I am also a beneficiary of the good deeds of social media, nothing would have stopped me from concluding that the invention is only here to complicate things for us.
It's funny and pathetic how our morals and ethics are gradually dying away. In the name of being social and modern, people now make everything look like a joke.
Issues that ought to be taken seriously and addressed with all strictness are now taken for granted.
If there is anything I hold with high esteem in life it's the issue of apology. It is very easy to think that I am just trying to act like a saint but that's not it.
The criticality of apology is so great that every religion encourages it. In fact, those who practice it are considered “wise.”
This is something I know to be taken very seriously, and in most cases, it is done physically to show how remorse one is.
Even if you don't have the prowess to construct the best sentence in the world, your presence alone means something, it shows humility and repentance.
However, I am not ignorant of the fact that there are cases where one can not be physically present, in cases like that calls and text can be substituted.
It now surprises me that apologies can be made through a video recording. Someone will do something bad then in the name of apology go and record a video displaying a sober and remorseful face.
On a normal day, the whole things sound like a drama. Doesn't it look stupid before the person even making the video?
I mean it's forgiveness you are looking for here, how does showing your video looking sorry make you sorry? Doesn't it look disrespectful?
People nowadays, especially influencers, celebrities, and politicians will do something very grievous, knowing fully that it is terrible then later make some apology video in the name of asking for forgiveness.
To be frank, I don't believe in that kind of apology. It may affect some people but it doesn't appeal to me.
The whole thing looks like they are acting. Well, I know they don't have any means to reach people individually to tender apology yet, I am sure they can use mediums like radio to apologize or better if they really want to make us believe their repentance, they can gather a few fans and tender apologies to them then record it and send to the mass through various social platforms.
I think something like that would make more sense than sitting in your room or studio and faking a remorseful face to fool the public that you are sorry.
Most times the same person would commit another big offense again then come back and use the same method to apologize because he/she feels they can fool the public.
I saw a video of a preacher who once said something wrong while he was teaching the Bible, when he noticed he was wrong, he waited for another service and publicly came and corrected it and apologized before the crowd.
For people like that, I don't mind your offense but the fact that he was humble enough to come out and seek forgiveness before the people and not in one corner of his room, he merits forgiveness and ought to be emulated.
You can't hurt the people and still be proud to come and apologize, what is the video for? Are you too big to step out to the same public you hurt and plead for forgiveness?
I am not saying some people don't do such videos out of a pure heart, of course, there are people who do apology videos with a genuine heart but the majority are doing it for a show-off.
And if you are opportune to watch the videos, you will see their pride and arrogance on display.
Well, I can't say it is wrong to use an apology video. Whether it is a video or a physical apology or text, it all doesn't matter, the most important thing is when you offend People, apologize properly, it won't cost you anything.
Social media apologising is so unreal like, it's just for display.
Exactly ma, most people are just showing off, only a few are sincere about it
