My Most Cherished Song

My Most Cherished Song

I started listening to music seriously sometime last year when I reunited with one of my friends who came home for holidays.

Prior to our meeting, I am not sure I had upto 20 songs on my playlist. In fact, inside the 20, half are sermons. I just wasn't having time for music that much, I preferred watching movies and chatting.

Anytime, I feel the need to listen to a song or want to score any, I'll just go to boomplay and stream it.

When I and the lady met, I realized that her relationship with music was extraordinary. She doesn't just listen to it, she flows with it. There were days I'll call her on video call and she would be looking dull. If I ask what happened, she would be like she was listening to a sad song.

She was so into songs that they controlled her emotions and her actions. She told me at a certain time that music is one of her best friends. She stays alone in school, sometimes, she has no one around except music and it knows exactly how to address her situations.

Most times when we are together she plays a song as we converse and it makes the moment great. I can trace most of the time I spent with her to some songs.

That was how I revived the habit of listening to songs again, her connection with songs challenged me. I started with some of her songs, then gradually shifted to motivational songs and they were of great help.

They said "Music is powerful," I can testify to it. Before I started listening to music very well, each time I felt depressed or too lazy to do an assignment, that's how that task would be there and if I manage to do it, it would be as a result of a serious battle with myself.

But ever since I started listening to music, anytime, I feel depressed or lazy to work, I just need to play the right song, and boom, motivation and strength will come, but it doesn't work all the time.

The way we listen to a song determines the way it will affect us. If you listen to a song casually, it will have not effect on you, but if you allow your inner being to relate with the song and flow with it, you would be surprised how much energy that song will pump into your being.

I listened to songs differently, depending on the content. There are songs that I put on repeat and listen to when I am calm and allow every part of me to flow with and there are songs I just play and even forget that a song is playing.

One of the songs that I don't ever get tired of listening to and that affects me each time I listen to it is "Rahama" By Kae Strings. I first heard it in a church service and later downloaded it on my phone.

Each time I play that song, it humbles me. The song is a sermon and a prayer to me. I don't play it and not see how helpless I am as a man without God. it gives me hope in the world knowing fully that I have someone in heaven who will help me even if everyone decided to leave me.

Thanks For Reading

I love watching movies 🎥 too as a way to relax especially on weekends.

But music 🎶 is something different from movies 🎥. The need to listen to music comes naturally and when its right because it has to do with mood.

However, some people has flare for music 🎵 just like your said friend.

Thanks for sharing 🥰❤️

Both music and music have their place. Funny enough, one can't replace the other.

You are right where you said the need to listen to music comes naturally according to our mood, sometimes it just doesn't make sense. Hehhe.

Hmm. That's very right. Music works based on how we present ourselves to it
