Morality And Ethics, The Strength Of The Law

What differentiates man from animals in the bushes is law and order. I sat down quietly to observe some of the laws we have and all of them seemed to be preaching morality.

They seemed to be picked from different religions in the nation and they have been functioning perfectly. However, those who make the law don't obey them, thus making things complicated, if not the law is perfect.

I was having a conversation with someone, some time ago and he threw a question at me, “Is it possible not to belong to any religion and still live without doing what is wrong?”

It's such a complex question but I answered “yes,” and my reason is that the law is good, the law is perfect, the law is just and the law is fair.

If one genuinely abides by the law, one can live without doing what is wrong from a general perspective. There are people who don't believe in the existence of God and don't belong to any religion yet have good hearts and do what is right, most of them are even philanthropists and that is because of the law and morality.

Don't get me wrong though, everyone has what they believe, I have a religion.

The law is what it is because of the morals it preaches, if you take ethics and morals out of a law, what we would have is a chaff.

What will the law be addressing if morality is not the goal? Can there be right or wrong outside morality? I doubt so.

Even if there is no crime committed, and nobody's getting hurt, people should not just do whatever they want.

There would not be a difference between us and the animals. Order would be lacking and morality would be dead. People would become lawless, selfish, and unthoughtful.

Since everyone can do whatever they want, anyone can wear whatever they want, drive the way they want, and do things just how they feel is right, maybe they might just be careful enough not to hurt people physically but emotionally, a lot of people would be hurt.

Imagine people dressing in an indecent manner, physically, it won't hurt anyone but there are people that it will affect inwardly. Some kinds of dresses are tortures on their own.

From the look of things, there is no way anyone would live the way they want and others would not get hurt. Even with the law and morality in the picture currently it is still difficult to tame people, imagine when they are not in the picture.

This world would become the second city of doom, and the worse would happen. Imagine bringing your children into that kind of world.

No matter what happens, no matter how much we think we can behave nicely, it is a trap to think that we can be good and do what is right even if we take morality out of the law. We are only going to set ourselves up for destruction and it will happen swiftly.

What's keeping us today is morality, that sense of humanity, the sense of doing what is right, decent, and approvable by all is the best.

Some people say “How do we know that what we are doing is right simply because it is accepted by many?”

I am not ignorant that the multitude can be misled, however, there are things that ten people can not be wrong about.

For instance, the law forbids killing, and as individuals, we know that killing is wrong, with this confirmation, we can agree to frown upon the act and make it punishable and it becomes law.

I am among those who believe that the law is perfect, those who enacted them did so after carefully observing what is right and wrong.

Morality and ethics are the law, if anything tampers with them, then the law would be faulty and life would suffer the consequences.

Truthfully, law and ethics goes line by line. In the book of Romans, even the Bible encourages us to obey the law. The law is meant to create order while ethics is meant to preserve humanity.

Gbam, this is why I value the law and place them highly.. it just unfortunate that those who make these laws are breaking them and making things difficult for everyone.. but if we will live by the law as it should be, come on... The world we be a better place.
