Friendship In School: How I Met My Friends
I had two people that were like family; Zaks and Ella. How we became friends was just fate.
Ella was my senior in secondary school, she was one of the nicest people among her mates but we weren't cool, we never even spoke till she graduated.
When I got admission into college, surprisingly, I met her in the lecture hall. At first I didn't believe my eyes, but when she came around to say hi after the lecture, my doubts were cleared.
We talked for a long time that day. I was happy to hear that she was my course mate. We exchanged phone numbers and from that day, we started doing things together.
Zaks was my friend in junior secondary school, he left just before we wrote the examination for senior class entry, Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
Since then we separated and didn't cross paths again. One of those days, Ella and I went to get something to eat at the cafeteria and we bumped into Zaks.
It was such a shock, we reminisced on old times and teased each other. Eventually he told me he was schooling with us and guess what? We are studying the same course.
I was surprised I have not been seeing him around, but who cares? Friendship came back to life. It was easy for Ella to also flow with him because she knew him from secondary school.
That was how the three of us became family. We were always together in lectures and during free hours.
They say “friends impact our lives,” that's very true, meeting Zaks and Ella really shaped my life.
Zaks was a social person, he mingled with people a lot but I was this quiet guy who always loved to be alone. Through Zaks everything changed, I met a lot of people and became social too.
Ella was a book warmer, that one doesn't joke with her studies, I picked challenges from her life and took my studies seriously too.
The two of them are not just friends but my family, to date we are still in touch, and that love and bond is still very strong.
