Automated Hands?

Domestic chores are never ending, and let’s be real, they can be tiring, especially when you have work to deal with alongside it. People might say, “Oh, it’s just washing or cleaning... nothing so hard in that.” Well, if you’ve ever stayed home for a day and did all those things from morning till evening, I believe your opinion will change fast.

In the past, many people got maids to help out at home, not because they were lazy, but because they had tried and realized they couldn’t do it all on their own. I know this personally. I’ve lived with a few relatives before when I was younger just to help with chores. I know how it feels to wake up early, sweep, wash, cook, and still run errands, all before the sun sets. So yeah, chores are not simple. They may look simple from afar, but once you start doing them daily, especially without help, you’ll understand it’s a full-time job on its own.

Now, imagine if there was a robot to do all that. Personally, if I had the chance to get a robot to do my chores for me, I would. I so would! Because I know the time and effort it takes to handle housework. Sometimes, I look back at my day and realize the only thing I achieved was “cleaning the house" or even "washing" That’s how consuming it can be. A robot would be such a relief, especially for chores I don’t enjoy, like ironing, scrubbing the bathroom, or washing clothes. Maybe not cooking though. That’s the only chore I still do with my heart. Plus, I don’t want to eat bland meals. Just imagine a robot trying to make Afang soup or Egusi with the right touch... the more I think of it, the more hilarious it becomes. I don't trust a robot with my seasoning balance.

While it's very easy to think a robot is the answer to my probleams. I wonder what I will use all that free time for? Probably engaging in more life activities, travel at convenience, have more time to go for visits, might start reading again or have more time to rest. Anyway, with so much free time, there's definitely a lot I'm going to invest my energy in . Things more productive infact.

But while it may work well for a single person who's working hard jobs or someone who lives alone, I start to worry a bit when I think of a home with children. Robots taking care of kids? I’m not comfortable with that. Growing up with siblings, my mom always divided chores, someone sweeps, another washes dishes, someone else does laundry. Everyone had something to do before mom returned. That was how we learned teamwork and responsibility. If a robot is now doing all that, what lessons will kids learn?

Leaving my child in the mechanical hands of a robot doesn’t sit right with me. There's no emotion, no understanding, no human connection. That’s not how I want my kids to grow up. Also, when children no longer have chores to do, laziness will creep in. You’ll find them glued to the TV or playing all day with no sense of duty or contribution. That’s dangerous in the long run. It’s from those small household responsibilities that we start to learn discipline and value hard work.

Don’t get me wrong, robots have their advantages. They can be super helpful, maybe much more helpful for elderly people living alone or for people with health challenges. In such cases, having a robot can actually make life easier and safer. Maybe I won't get robots that do absolutely everything for me, but if I can afford to live an easier life, I'm definitely going for it.

That's right, but I respect my partner and realize that housework is very tiring, cooking, washing, sweeping, mopping and many more, we men are definitely not able to do it

Which is why I see it as a great form of help if robot can be able to help out in doing such work. Thank you for engaging friend.

Everything that has an advantage always has a disadvantage.
One may decide not to leave the kids with the robot alone but considering all the house chores, I will go for it again and again 😂
