What it Takes
My favourite lady in the IT department has proceeded on her vacation and less than two days into it, am already missing her presence. We don't share a personal relationship outside the job, but on the job she does her thing with the utmost sense of diligence and professionalism you probably can muster.
Am not the only one who's of the opinion too. A lot of us have experienced her first hand and for many of us, she's practically the only one who we recognise in their department. This is because when experiencing challenges, others become noticeably unresponsive and unwilling to help. She really is the only one that responds to most of our technical issues.
It isn't like the others are unskilled in their dealings. It is rather a general lack of diligence and empathy. It will be very difficult getting someone to fill the role for the time being, but perhaps it will create the opportunity for me to properly appreciate her efforts and behaviour while hoping that someone else steps up.
