Taking the Lead

There are reports that the Trump administration wants to seize the initiative on the crypto space and become a dominant force on the sphere. It was something some of us probably crypto supporters imagined years ago, and advised Countries to take advantage of the markets while the space was still finding its feet. What happend though was that we saw very few countries showing genuine interest in the crypto space, and as such very few leaders emerged. But what happens now?

A Trump interest in crypto is huge news for the space, whether we willingly admit it or not. Even if it is sentiments are no major moves are made, it is a great confidence boost for investors and encouragement for other Countries to take initiative this period. If the USA now actually introduces some pro crypto policies, then it will spur a lot more action and drive up the value of the space. Of course there are limits to how much government interference can be a good thing, especially when it comes to cryptocurrency.

The approach any government takes towards crypto is also very important. For a while we saw some obvious Anti crypto crackdowns by regulators aimed at bringing down the space, but now we are filled with Pro crypto sentiment from regulators, defining what that means may not be as easy as we imagine. This is because intention is truly important. If being pro crypto means trying to seize control of the space by force or regulation, then it is bound to fail as previous attempts have.

If being pro crypto however means encouraging and leading innovation, encouraging investments and driving more decentralised Blockchain value across the mainstream then I think we'll easily get on board regardless of who is championing it. I feel cautiously optimistic about the future of crypto. What's more, it certainly isn't too late to get on board and make some significant investments for the future.
