No Pressure...But Hurry

A rather surprising observation I've made from my years in the corporate space is how very few of us actually imbibe the organisational structure into our lives. This is true even for the high performers. They are quite disciplined with the organisation's vision and execute with a lot of detail and precision.

Yet, when that clock stops for the day we're at the mercy of none other than ourselves. We hang out competencies and skills in the office cabinet until the next working day. For the lot of us, we simply cannot handle the intensity and structure of the corporate space all day long, and a return home should be into normalcy.

I wonder just how effective this is long term though. What is normal anyways? Who are we really? Are we the high performers at the office who people admire or the person who hasn't cleaned out their space for days due to fatigue. Are we amongst those who don't give as much space for personal development and assume that corporate performance ultimately defines who we are.

This has so often led to a dual personality trait that is sometimes badly disrupted when some of us are forced to exit our jobs rather abruptly. While our jobs are a big part of who we are and can give us purpose, we must be very careful to separate ourselves and carve our own identities. This i believe is a fundamental task for every employee or entrepreneur who wishes to find happiness and balance in their aspirations.

Happy new month everyone.
