In Your Power

We have an audit session coming up that's getting me worked up for some reason. Audits at my organization are usually a big deal and ideally no-one wants to have a bad audit. As far as preparation goes we've tried to put a lot of things in place, just to ensure that we come out as clean as possible.

My major fear is as a result of errors we have made much earlier in the year which are bound to be picked up by auditors. Nothing major, but significant enough to make a difference in the audit assessment should It up taken up. I have no intention of trying to cover up anything so am just here awaiting their visit.

I know the old saying that you can only control things within your control but it certainly isn't making me feel any better in this situation. Am admittedly anxious about this audit because a ton of those mistakes could've been avoided. A poor assessment reflects on me as a supervisor and ultimately makes me further question my already doubtful self. No matter how I try to prepare for the worst I can't guarantee such an assessment won't get to me personally.

That said, it isn't in my power anymore. The only thing I can do now is damage control and of course to draw out lessons for the next audit cycle. No need crying out too loudly over what cannot be controlled.
