How Badly you Want It

I came across a report about how Cristiano Ronaldo is still playing elite Soccer at 40 years Old. Now in Football terms, at 40 years old you should be long retired, probably thinking of a coaching or media gig, or at least the next line of business. To see someone play at that age is abnormal, to see someone play at top level at that age is completely unheard of.

It's not just him though. There's also LeBron James doing something similar at the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA. He's also 40, and playing elite basketball better than 99% of the current NBA roster. These men defying Father time have shown us that there's a lot more to the ageing process than we simply understand or are willing to accept.

Of course these people are rather popular, extraordinary examples so you can argue with some credibility that they can afford the very best fitness routine and nutritition that money can buy. That's true in a sense, but if it were as simple as that, there'd be a lot more big name players with the same longevity performing at elite level.

Instead we have other names who are defying Father time without the elite resources. We had examples Kim Collins (Athletics), Allyson Felix (Athletics) and many uncited examples doing wonders without the additional name. The reason I believe is that something else propels performance in these unique individuals. Something motivates, drives and encourages them to compete at the very top level. Sports might be one example, but in life I believe extraordinary results indeed boils down to desire regardless of the field.
