Gratitude Sundays : Redemption

We live in quite a judgmental society. People will so often ignore their own imperfections to actively condemn the actions of others, even when those actions might be similar to theirs. I believe there is at least a piece of hypocrisy embedded in virtually everyone of us. It of course takes great humility to admit this and discipline to work on it.
For those who do manage to transcend the illusions of perfection and willingly admit their flaws, there are of course at the mercy of two things I believe. First and most important is their conscience which sets the rules we all abide by. Next is of course the perception of others. We likely need these two criteria to align before we can talk about complete redemption.
Now some people take lightly the importance of social perception, while others take it too seriously and only pursue external validation. I reckon both are extremes and the right way is somewhere in the middle. Truth is we do need the forgiveness and approval of others but it should be heavily restricted to those we deeply care about and affected stakeholders.
That said, true redemption is only complete when we put ourselves on the right path and forge ahead. The mere fact that there are those who are willing to forgive us when we err is indeed a blessing.
