Death of Excitement

There's usually a lot of enthusiasm we bring into new discoveries. Prior to my first job I had mulled over starting my own business and did dip my toes into the water for a little while - to get the feel of how it is. Of course it didn't take much time for the excitement to disappear on both occasions as i quickly embraced the idea of paid employment.
Relationships have been more or less the same. The first few weeks were always fantastic until the 'honeymoon phase' wears off. I've always tried to remind myself during the honeymoon phase that the feelings during that period aren't necessarily real, or all there is to it, and I believe it helped guide some of my actions during my younger years. Of course as I've become older, am less carried away by early stage charms.
Some people talk about keeping the fire burning through whatever we decide. I wonder if it's possible - a sustained period of true and genuine interest that doesn't dissipate with the passage of time. I strongly doubt the integrity of such a process, because a long term relationship with anything is often filled with repeated bouts of highs and lows.
Take the Crypto space for example. Even the most bullish in the space have at least had cause to take a backseat with the recent crash. Few people are shouting 'buy the dip' like in the early days.
Notwithstanding, when excitement goes, clarity often sets in. I reckon it can be a blessing in disguise if applied early in the inevitable road downhill.
