A year and A Day

I've just been thinking about how patience is probably the hardest thing to master, yet how much time paradoxically flies. It is quite tempting to see time as a neverending test when caught in the heat of the moment. Yet, for those of us who have been shown our fair share of how life events unfold, there's something about time that very quickly and easily approaches when least expected.

Patience is not one of our best traits as humans though. There are numerous examples of us failing to properly comprehend the timeframe it takes to get certain things done. Even when we are pre informed, there seems to be a part of us that believes our individual turns will take a shorter time than the general timeframe. It is a funny yet true fact of human nature.

At the extremes, people are dragged down by their own impatience. Patience exerts its toll, but so does impatience also I believe. There are times when impatience can prove quite costly in the long-term. Am sure we all can give possible examples of times where we exited something too early, only for it to have a change of fortunes down the line. Sometimes, such changes can be life transforming.

Therefore I believe long term thinking should be reflected on with some form of humility and urgency. It may seem far but times movement is inevitable. We should think long-term but with a sense of the daily obstacles we have to face so we don't throw in the towel prematurely.
