Drugs Abuse Among Youths Nowadays
As a medical personnel , so many people have shared their pains and challenges with me and have confided on me by expressing their depression and frustration on how hard and difficult is seems to stop taking hard drugs because their body system is already used to it.
When a patient took any drugs prescribed by the doctor or physician, that patient is in safe hands. There are so many drugs a patient or someone can take being prescribed by the physician depending on the person's health challenge or condition from the laboratory diagnoses. We have drugs like antiviral and antibiotics for treatment of illness, if your body is paining you , then pain relievers can be prescribed for you to take to reduce the pain in your body.
Any drugs can affect a patient either positive or negative depends on what kind of drugs the person has taken and how many dosage has been consumped. Anyone that takes drugs without a doctor or physician assistant or prescription is engagering his or her life. Abuse of drugs is when a patient or person takes drugs without a physician prescription and it can destroyed the person's body system. When you take some drugs above your body immune system can control, it can affect your brain and cause memory loss, depression and even affect your heart or leads to kidney failure.
Two young men came to the facility this morning with the complaints of chest pains and body weakness. I ran typhoid tests and ulcer test on both of them and the results shows positive. The level of their titre was so high to a level of 1/320 titre level . With the level of this high tire their body will be weaken and they will feel dizziness. The ulcer test shows positive, very bold by using H.pylori test kit.
I explained the test results to them and I overheard one of them was complaining his heart is burning him inside, like his heart is catching fire. I adviced them to go for scanning to know the cause of that pain, since we already figured out they have ulcer and high level of typhoid.
It was after I told them to go for scan they started asking me, if hard drugs can cause such pain in the heart too? and I quickly said honestly yes, hard drugs can cause such pain in the hearts and even damaged the heart and cause heart failure. I asked them are they into drugs? And they both answered yes. They said it was two years ago they started taking this hard drugs and is due to peer pressure from other friends or peer group lifestyle they've learnt it.
They said they never taken cocaine or heroin before, because such hard drugs are hard to get among themselves and is very expensive. They said they only used to take tramadol , codeine syrup and have been drinking alcohol each time they hang out with friends. I told them to stop it before it gets out of control, because it will cause them a lot of harm they will never imagined. They said they have tried stopping it but wasn't easy for them. That each time they tried stopping it, from morning to evening they will feel like to give up the ghost in them or feels like they will die if they don't take it.
I told them is hard for them to stop it because their body system is used to it, they will need enough time for their body immune system to readjust to it. But I told them medically drugs are taken according to doctor or physician prescription is helpful, but abused of drugs is very dàngerous. When you take drugs illegally overtime it will affect your health and everything around you, like your resources, money, behavior, relationship and affect your brain.
I adviced them to stay away from such peer group or friends influencing them, always stay in an open place to avoid hidden hangouts. They should engaged themselves in something that will develop or build an emotional and mental health to them. The good thing I like about this two men is that they are willing to stop taking this hard drugs, they have determined and ready to stop it.
They just need help and support and medical advices from someone that will guide them and enlightened them on what to do to be able to stop it. They left for the the scanning and haven't come back yet. I hope they will get over it. Hard drugs doesn't help or add anything positive to one's life, stay away from taking hard drugs, it kills and destroy.
