THE PUMPKIN PLANT: Fresh & Green In Our HOMESTEAD FARMđź‘Ť

Hello everyone here in the @homesteading community, my warmth greetings to everyone, no matter anywere you are in any part of the globe, i know food is a primary necessity of human...thats.what my brother often say the world is revolving, science and technology taking over the human race, with the advent of Ai Everything is almost automated, but one thing will.remain unchanged....

FOOD PRODUCTION, FARMING,

We are humans not robot we won't eat technology, which is why i personally plan to venture into large scale mechanise farming cause no matter what humans must eat, thats were farming comes in

Especially a small #homestead farmland near you were you can grow and nurture some easy crops, like ours..here in this small piece of land is our #homesteadfarmland were we grow several crops, plant and spice, leaves for food, like the pumpkin leaves, curry leaves thyme, pepper, yam etc......

So today i wish to let you all into my little world of my homestead farmland were our family grows various crops at our back yard, so today i went out our back yard i coudnt help but admire the beautiful leaves, fresh, green and healthy, it was drizzling, the weather was cold with gentle soft breezs, in my head our little pumpkin leaves has blossom so well, and the are really enjoying the rainy season...

Alright lets talk about the pumpkin leaves a bit

Pumpkin leave do not have a particular breeding season, pumpkin leaves are available all year round

Current facts
The Pumpkin leaves belongs the cucurbitaceae family, they grow on trailing vines that maybe trellised, pumpkin leaves
are not often thought of as edible, basically because of their fuzzy texture, can be eaten raw or cooked, very medicinal especially when eaten raw or half cooked very good for the blood

Nutritional Value

Pumpkin leaves are very rich good source of calcium, iron, folate, magnesium , phosphorus, potassium and mananese, also rich in vitamin A, B and Vitamin C

APPLICATION

Pumpkin leaves or ugu or vegetable as popularly known in our clime is so healthy, wildly consumed, and highly medicinal, its very healthy eaten raw or half cooked. Young pumpkin leaves were often used in salads by American Colonist, in Africa pumpkin leaves are basically used for soups and main dishes, In India they ate used in popular 'saag' dishes in place of spinach, pumpkin leaves are good steamed or sauteed and better with olive oil and garlic, they can be used on coconut-based curries, and can be used as replacement in any recipe that calls for winter green, they can also be used as wraps in some African Dishes ...like the Ekpankwukwo from the Ifik trybe in Nigeria

PLANTING/CULTIVATION
THE pumpkin leaves is so easy to plant and cultivate the seeds are contained in a buds which has to be opened clean and dry sun for a few days in the sun, then tilt the ground, make a shallow hole then bury, then water every morning and evening, since they grow on trailing vines they need some tree or stick with branches for them to crawl and spread on it.

In here mom actually cut out lots of young bamboo sticks pin them to grow and crawl on it..also ensure weeding so to keep them off from stressing the plant and to keep pest off...

Thats why you need to attach a stick or something attach to them to crawl on...
