IF I'M THE PRESIDENT: Even For A DAY.
Right so we were having these conversations about the economy and how things have turned out to be, what should have been done right from time but wasn't, so all these happened because of some negligence on the part of someone who is not doing his job right, most times it's done on purpose to sway in somethings in their favor with no remorse whatsoever of human sympathy.
While we talked everyone with their own different opinions of what they would do better if they were the ones in that office and handling the affairs of the Country, my response was it's literally the same thing they all said before getting there, but however upon resuming office after sometimes a lot about them change, not because they just want to, but due to the fact that they must comply with certain policies and dealings of ground, especially when gotten into office through other means, now alot will influence their decision making and their process of implementation.
At the end of the day I thought to myself what would I do better if I'm given the opportunity of being the president of the federal republic of Nigeria even for a day, what would I do differently and how can I possibly stay upright and not be influenced by some external forces, I strategically ponder upon those things that will trigger and boost the economy, elevate means of production, for export, economic diversification, security and the power sector, I have never held a public office before but I'm definitely sure from my observation tackling these key elements of the economy will subsequent upset others and everything can run smoothly by making sure certain key factors are in place and handled properly,
Looking at my country in a nutshell Nigeria is Top most naturally blessed country in the shores of Africa, with over hundreds of mineral resources and natural reserves, mega landmarks suitable for cultivating all kinds of Agricultural farm produce, in different regions of the country, in a country were 80% of her population is made up of the youth with great potential and readiness to be gainfully employed, a country with multi-ethnicity, tribe, religion and languages yet united together with the true #nija spirit this is so unheard of in any country of the world that have stay this long without breaking out, this a lone makes us unique in all fronts.
Looking at all of these I said to myself this country doesn't need much rather place some key structures and basic infrastructure and a great strategy in place that will boost local and international businesses, local production of goods and services for export and home consumption, boost home grown agro produce, ensue adequate security and constant power supply these are basic economic drivers but mostly over looked by those in office.
.....If I'm the president even for a day I would just come up with three point agenda
SECURITY
ELECTRICITY
BASIC INFRASTRUCTURE
SECURITY is paramount clause here cause any country constantly in battle with insurgency, killings, kidnapping, robbery and destruction of lives and properties will never experienced economic growth, so securing the territory of a nation is a priority, when people are assured of their peace of mind and security they can easily go about their businesses without being scared, farmers ordeal up north triggers food scarcity else were, as the president and commander in chief of the Armed Forces it is my duty to ensure they are 100% heavily equipped with latest ammunition to combat crimes and to bring to justice perpertrators of evil acts in the country.
ELECTRICITY Nothing triggers the cost of production of good and services and doing business like where there is lack of Electricity, the cost of production and running a business will always go up when the management must always rely on self generation of power supply to aid smoothness of its business, the cost of maintenance of these power generators, cost of fuel, petrol, gas, added to gether is alarming and of course these would be thrown to the final consumer of their products which is why the cost of living will always be high, it's a simple analogy we all understand if there's constant power supply, I tell you goods and services in this country will be very cheap because cost of production and smooth running of business will be very low, and the outcome of that is we will be left with enough to export to countries and that is additional money added to the treasury
BASIC INFRASTRUCTURE Maybe not really basic but infrastructures that will aid boost economic growth and development, The infrastructure will cut across all sectors of the economy, Agricultural, Educational, Health, Public(Rural & Urban Development, set up a state of the art fully functional refineries, first of all these will boost up job creation, secondly we will get to refind more crude for exports, three these will boost the economy, compare to the cost of exporting these crude to be refined outside only to buy back the produce, Good roads and bridges to ease movement of raw materials, finished goods and persons from one geographical area to another and as when needed.
Mean while there are tons of other factors to be considered but if these basic things are properly handled they will on their own generate a substantial level of economic stability, growth and development as others will definitely fall in place.
