What is Hezbollah?and why role does it play in Lebanon and Israel vs Iran war.

  Meaning of Hezbollah

Hezbollah is an arabic word, meaning party of God.
After isreal invaded and occupy Lebanon in 1982 during the Lebanese civil war but the group become official in 1985 with a manifesto detailing their goal of creating a shitte islamic state pledging alliance to iran leader and vow to fight isreal occupation of Lebanon and Palestine terrories.

   How popular is Hezbollah in Lebanon 

Support for this group( Hezbollah )has grown over the years . Israel withdrew from Lebanon in the year 2000 many Lebanese celebrated Hezbollah as their liberator . Other also started pushing for Hezbollah to cease it military operations and allow the Lebanese armed forces take over military operations of securing Lebanon's border from Hezbollah.
Anti human right activities dented Hezbollah popularity and on April 14 2005 , Lebanese prime minister was killed who was known for condemning Hezbollah and syria with evidence pointing at Hezbollah and syria responsible for his death.
The death of Lebanon prime minister lead to the Cedar revolution leading to the departure of syrian forces from Lebanon making a drop in Hezbollah popularity.
Recent poll show that there is decrease in the Lebanese trust on Hezbollah as only 30% trust Hezbollah whereas 55% does not trust the group at all , although Hezbollah retain 85 % trust of shitte muslim only 9 % of sunnis and Druze 6% of christains trust militia.

He is the secretary general of Hezbollah and one of the major decision makers his death is a major blow to the group as such attack demoralize Hezbollah fighters and pass the message that isreal will no longer take tit for tat approach on it northern border .

Most analyst assumes that there may be a coordinator revenge attack for both the killing of shukr and assassination of hamas leader ismail in july this may include missles and rocket from iran , Hezbollah in lebanon and houthi rebels in yemen and shi'a militant group in syria and iraq.
Iran maybe be trying to work out the best way to respond to isreal assault on Hezbollah and hamas.

Israel has 169500 active personal , 126000 in the army, 9500 in the navy, 34000 in the air force and 465000 reserve.

     Military spending 

Iran spent $10.3bn in 2023, a 0.6 percent increase from 2022.
Israel spent $27 billion in 2023, a 24 percent increase from 2022 — a surge in part fuelled by the war on Gaza following October 7.

       Ground forces

According to The Military Balance 2023:

Iran has over 10,513 battle tanks, more than 6,798 artillery guns and more than 640 armoured personal carriers. The army also has 50 helicopters while the IRGC has 5 helicopters.
Israel has around 400 battle tanks, 530 artillery guns and more than 1,190 personal carriers.

        Air force

According to The Military Balance 2023:

Iran: The air force has 312 combat-capable aircraft and the IRGC has another 23. The air force has two attack helicopters, the army has 50 and the IRGC has five..

Conclusion 

A war between iran and israel can escalate into a world war, with both israel and iran calling their Ally's for support this may turn out to be a third world war but at the moment , we believe a diplomatic decision can be put in place to avoid this disaster.
