Lesson learnt From a Nigerian Movie... Man Of God.

Man of God is a 2022 Nigerian Movie, written by Shola Dada and directed by Bolanle Austen Peter. It is one movie I have in my phone and never for once deleted it. This movie create a story line of a Nigerian clergyman son who grew up in a Christian home and community, but end up in a university to be performing 'worldly song'. That was his mother's worst nightmare, and even though the mother tried to reach him through a Dns daughter in their church, it all proved abortive. The end game for Samuel Obalulu the protagonist of the play, when his other classmates graduate, including his supposed girlfriend who end up marrying a pastor, well the viewer thought it's the end of him, until the plot was directed to the protagonist marrying a church girl who has been friend with her.

That leads to another storyline entirely, of Samuel Obalolu always cheating with the choir members, and some other ladies in Church, and when the church founders catch a glimpse of this, they threatened to fire him, this also cause a stray in his marriage with Teju. Eventually, after a reunion with his campus girlfriend and a mouthwatering offer, from Rekx he became a pastor!

Becoming a personal as a cover-up from committing different attrocicities like money laundering, child trafficking, sleeping and abortion etc. This eventually leads to his download, Teju, his wife supply the police with every information needed to put him behind bar. In the end, Samuel goes back home like a prodigal son.

The movie taught a lot of lessons, which I will be sharing a few.

Childhood trauma plays important role in Samuel's life, the kind of upbringing he has keep tormenting him even till old age. The beating he got from his father from not being present actively in church earned him to be the black goat of the family. Hence, this taught me that is not every time that Cain or corporal punishment should be meted on Child.

Campus Cohabiting is evil so many youths involved in couple life in school doesn't end up in marriage eventually. Samuel and Rekx lived, slept, attend and skips classes together, but they don't end up in marriage, and the chemistry they've built together over the year affect Samuel's marriage. It was just a phone call, and Rekx end up warming Samuel's bed.

Prodigal Son can be back home. No one can fall beyond GOD'S grace, and no matter how lost a sheep is, if he can come back home, he will be accepted. That's the case of Samuel. Both God and his father.
