Should The Old Format Of Tradition Still Exist In This Modern World

Its been five months now since i lost my mum in February and her body is still in the mortuary waiting for family to prepare a befitting burial for her in weeks to come that now keeps me wondering if this system of tradition is still advisable to follow in this modernize world that we find ourselves now. My worry is not really about the befitting burial because that in my view is the aspect of paying last respect to someone who we wont see again but it is the delay in the preparation for the burial.

I have seen tribes and religion bury their dead within 24hrs or at worst two days without the aspect of depositing the body to any mortuary. This idea reduces costs as there wont be much expenses in burying the dead especially in cases where you wont have to pay a dime to any mortuary and also not throwing any burial ceremonies where food and drinks would be shared.

Any burial ceremony celebrated in that way depends on the deceased and the family financial capability but then this have been a tradition where the dead have to be celebrated and it have to be done in a way where people will have to eat and drink during the occasion.

are we celebrating or mourning

I still believe it is a matter of choice because not every family have that capacity or capability to throw such celebration in burying their dead. Mostly it depends on the tribe, religion and age of the deceased. If it is a young person who loses his or her life and also not married, there wont be delay in burying such person as that can take days or weeks in burying the person which depends on the family conclusion.

Africans most especially take tradition so serious that they still follow the format of our forefathers in other aspects that they forget to know that we are in a civilized era now. I am not talking about burial this time but other mentality of situations that needs a change. There are so many tribes in Africa that still practice what their forefathers do which doesnt look necessary or compulsory anymore but because they say it is tradition the choices of ignoring is not an option.

the Gen-z is taking over

we are in an era where things are beginning to change as we now live in a computerized world where the lifestyle experienced is far different from our parents and grands parents. The internet is taking over and this at some point is eradicting the practices and activities of things done in the past but it haven't still get to the point where some traditional activities needs to be eradicted.

It is only those who know their history fights to defend it and this is passed to generations in maintaining that history. Culture needs to be learnt and practiced but some of it is becoming an old fashion is this era that will live in.

Well, it is when people stop to do it that it would stop. People complain about it but when it is their turn they don't change anything.

Now it is your turn, bro. Lol. What would you do differently? What have you done differently so far? People have to dare to do things differently, that is the only way a custom/tradition would change.

something that have been in existence before coming to the world to meet it will be hard to eradicate especially when you dont have back up to support. however it is a gradual process in changing situations so it wont be easy to just accept a new change against what have been existing before.
