[EN/PT/ES] Architecture School - My experience
MY EXPERIENCE GOING TO ARCHITECTURE SCHOOL
[EN] Hi, Hive! 💙 How u been?
I mencioned the fact that I was an architecture student for a while, and I'm here today to share the experience I had there, talk about some classes and answer some questions people would always ask.
My biggest passions, ever since the beginning, were the classes that were art-related and had many assignments that somehow included creativity in a more fluid way. In the first semester, I had Project 101, which was very introductory so we had very simple assignments. This professor was an architect and an artist, so he knew a lot about drawing and painting supplies and would always assign homework with this kind of content. Here are some of my works done durin his classes.
The first drawing is a sketch of my bedroom. The second one is a painting made with crayons and colored pencils.
During the fourth semester, I had Observed Drawing classes, which was by far one of my favorite subjects. The purpouse of it, as you can imagine, was drawing, haha. But the professor started in a slowly way so that people who weren't used to drawing could learn it. By the beginning of his classes he taught was how to make gradient drawings only with graphite pencils. As time went by, he started doing the same exercises but now with colored pencils. This professor was a Graphic Designer and an Artist, so although he taught realistc drawing he would always let and incourage us to add personal style to our creations and exercises.
The first pic is a study to work with graphite pencils and the second pic is a painting made after it.
The same study but now with colored pencils and a painting using the material.
People would always ask me if it were necessary to have drawing skills to go to architecture school and, even though that was only what I told about up until now, I would always say you didn't need the skill, but having it would be a big help.
Studing architecture is definitely not easy at all, specially because of the amount of projects and assignments we have to do. Part of why I left school was because I was being consumed by the crazy routine of attending college and having a full-time job. I also had some personal problems with the management of the University I was attending.
But Architecture changed my perspective in a lot of ways, specially when it comes to the creative process, college taught me that creativy needs research and references, it's not a divine thing like most people think so. Architecture has its own place in my heart and I'll always have a lot of respect for all thoses who choose to persue this career. Sending lots of good energy to the Architects on Hive.
My final work for the Observed Drawing classes. Its reference pic and the painting itself, made using colored pencils.
Hope you liked getting to know I bit more about my experience.
See u next post! XOXO
Beijoss

These are great pieces of work. I think while creativity is very important as an artist, knowing the technical side of making art does make it better.
Thanks a lot!
You're definitely right about knowing the techniques, I can see a lot of difference in my works once I started studying more.

Dear @emanueledornelas @boeltermc. Welcome to the Architecture+Design Community!
Please be reminded that as part of our community rules, we highly encourage authors to always add/provide the English language translations to their comments/replies using other languages for the reading convenience of our international Hive audience. Thank you for your consideration and cooperation.
Hello dear @aplusd
Since onboarding, @emanueledornelas has been making her posts in Portuguese, English and Spanish, but thanks for the warning.
I've been at Hive for 2 years and haven't posted here yet because I only understand the basics of architecture and design.
But I saw that people post about the architecture of cool places they've visited, so I thought I'd start blogging about it here, because I always visit places with unique architecture.
Thank you dear @boeltermc for your interest in the Architecture+Design Community. We would love to experience your A+D content, and we look forward to hosting them here soon. For your guidance, please take the time to digest our community rules and the important topics allowed for our publications here. Have fun!

Dear @aplusd
I am a moderator in the HiveBR, SkateHive, Nexo Digital and Block Tunes communities.
Some in the initial community phase.
Don't worry about following rules, @emanueledornelas and I are the ''ideal type'' of content creators, engaged and respectful.
I consulted the two links you sent along with @emanueledornelas before we created your first post in the community.
I am a community builder and in 2024 I will be 100% dedicated to onboarding and growth of Brazilians within our beloved Hive Blockchain.
Whatever you need, if you want. I will be at your disposal when it comes to the Brazilian community. Who knows, I might be able to introduce you to your Brazilian community and designers. So that they can post and participate in their contests.
Well, attitudes are worth more than words. So whenever a Brazilian architect joins Hive, expect to see him posting here from today onwards.
Do you already have a discord server? I couldn't find your server. Well, maybe it's a way to attract more native Hivers to engage with the community.
A hug and count on me.
Wow! We are thrilled to know your amazing contributions on Hive and we are honored to have you here. Thank you for the valuable information dear @boeltermc. Cheers! 😀
Cool.
I understand now that you were talking about comments in Portuguese, don't worry about that.
Have a great weekend!
Hi admired @aplusd
I read the rules of posting on the community before doing so. Just to be sure I wouldn't make any mistakes again, I read it once more after your comment.
Thank you for the heads up. I added the translation to the comments and, hopefully our relation can continue the best way possible.
Thank you for the patience and sorry for any inconvenience.
Hello dear @emanueledornelas. Thank you for your kind consideration, it will be a pleasure to experience your future A+D stories. Feel free to ask for help in case of clarifications and other community concerns. Have an enjoyable one! 😀
Thanks very much @aplusd
It will be a pleasure to engage with the A+D community.

Welcome to Hive, I'm a newbie too, with hardwork and a bit of patience we newbies will thrive here.🔥🔥🔥
I really love the layout of your intro post, almost makes me want to redo mine.😄
I also admire architects, especially everytime I see a unique building I gap in amazement that a fellow human did this, though I gap in amazement at many things people have done throughout human history and even currently.😌
Thanks for all the support, newbie friend. I'm sure we'll both thrive here! 🔥
I really like adding my personality to my posts and, for me, creating the layout and some sort of visual identity is one of the best parts of blogging.
Seeing different buildings is always a great experience, it makes us travel in wonders inside our minds.
Hope to see you around again!
Greetings @emanueledornelas, knowing how to draw is a great advantage for design and architecture, you can capture your ideas on paper exactly as you imagine them and go adding the appropriate decorative elements to the design, I had the opportunity to attend an exhibition of architecture and I was surprised by the ability of several students to create their beautiful designs.
Have a nice day!
For sure it is a big advantage. I've met several architecture students who were extremely talented. Hope you liked seeing some of my creations.
Thanks for you comment and feel free to stop by any time! 😊
Congratulations dear @emanueledornelas! We are delighted to inform you that your outstanding publication was specially selected to be part of our Curated Content Catalog and was awarded RUNNER-UP in Architecture Anthologyâ„¢ 52. More power!
Thank you for subscribing to Architecture+Design, an OCD incubated community on the Hive Blockchain.
Thanks very much!
With immense pleasure dear @emanueledornelas. Enjoy! 😀
