Summer and Winter
Has it started raining in your region? Well, it has in mine. It poured late this afternoon for about fifteen minutes or there about. I guess we are gradually diving into that time of the year, or have already dived in. It's funny how overtime our preferences changes. Like when I was a kid would love it when it rains so I and my siblings / neighbors would go under the rain to play and get soaked during the process.
Listening to Tori Amos made me have a deep reflection to certain experiences I had while growing up. Like when coming back from school and it happens to be raining we'll gladly under it with no umbrellas or raincoats even through we received scoldings from our parents to not do it so that we don't end up catching a cold. Sometimes if I just stick my hand out as I stand at the front corridor as the rain touches my palms. But presently, if there's anything that excites me about when it's raining is having an excuse not to go out. Another reason is the sleep it induces when it arrives.
Have you ever slept and woke up, only to step out your house and see everywhere wet as a result of the rain that fell the previous night and how you were totally unaware of it? I've had that experience quite a number of times. It's like you were locked into a soundproof room while it was busy raining heavily. But in recent times, I think I'm fine with summer over winter. I mean look at it this way, when people say the phrase "rainy days" it doesn't indicate something to be excited about. Or how you hear people answering Summer but have never come across any that is answering Winter.
Even a sunny emoticon represents brightness not just by the weather factor but also concerning someone's mood.
This is not me downplaying Winter, I know a whole lot of people would prefer winter. But personally, I feel I am more of a Summer person. Especially in this part of the would where I reside and how it gets really messed up when it rains. There are quite some roads that looks neater and beautiful when it rains. But then, there are other parts or areas that look the opposite.
But with all said and done, summer and winter are both beautiful seasons and we can't do without the other. Regardless of my choice between the two of them there are times I wish for one to arrive just as much as I have wished for the other to arrive at different periods of time. Like the popular song, "Thank you (Lord) for sunshine, thank you (Lord) for rain!"

Rain is beautiful, but nothing is more interesting than the harmattan breeze alongside the feeling that it will be cold even without rain. I too sometimes wish I can experience what winter feels like, I wish to one day feel the falling of snows
