Toxicity / Toxicidad (eng-esp)

Hi, girls!

The famous sunflowers and suns in Van Gogh's paintings were drawn simply because he believed yellow was a cheerful color and would therefore cheer people up. And, consequently, him.

The problem was that Van Gogh used paint containing lead. Lead, when absorbed, causes depression, among other things.

So, what Van Gogh thought would make him happy actually had the opposite effect. The same thing happens in our lives. We all have the equivalent of that yellow paint, and we must realize what it is in order to eliminate it.

source

The most obvious and dramatic example is drugs. You might believe that this escape, this trip, makes you happy. But in reality, it's lying to you. It steals your health, your will, your future. It's not giving you happiness; it's taking everything away, disguised as a moment of pleasure. It's the most false glitter there is.

source

Bad habits like smoking, excessive drinking, compulsive video games, and gambling don't truly make you happy either. They offer a distraction, a quick dopamine hit, a way to quell anxiety for a while. But they don't solve anything. When the effect wears off, the problem remains, and is often magnified. It's all an illusion of relief, not a real solution.

source

The same thing happens with toxic relationships. You justify staying with excuses like: “I do it because deep down he’s a good person…”, “He did that because I made him angry, he’s not violent”, “When he’s not drinking he’s not a bad person”, “I stay with her because she’s a good mother”.

You cling to the glimmers of something good, believing that’s gold. But the constant pattern of wear and tear, disrespect, or pain is lead. It poisons you slowly, disguising the poison as love or commitment.

We also believe that running away from problems will make us happy. Postponing a difficult decision, avoiding an uncomfortable conversation, ignoring a debt. It's a false sense of security. It doesn't make you happy; it only postpones and multiplies the suffering. True liberation comes from facing things, not from hiding from them.

source

Learning to distinguish between truth and reality is a daily practice. The facts and things that are truly good for you, the genuine ones, come from the heart and are inherently good. They don't need to be disguised. They don't create confusion or require you to invent excuses to defend them. They leave you with a clear and lasting peace, not a rush followed by a deeper emptiness. Stop chasing glitter.
Tune your inner ear, the one we use to hear the exact tuning of a string, and listen to yourself. Identify the false sound. Your well-being depends on recognizing the lead, even when it's covered with the most cheerful color.

Hola, chicas!

No necesitan disfrazarse.
