Dwight Eisenhower once said: The world belongs to the optimists, the pessimists are mere spectators, and I think he's absolutely right, from a practical point of view. I'm not talking about naive optimism, but something very clear and functional. Think of it as the difference between someone who drives the car and someone who just watches the scenery go by.

First of all, the optimist is the one who takes risks. They know they can lose, of course, they're aware of that risk. However, they focus their energy on that percentage, however small, in which they can also win.

That's why, in the long run or the short run, they win more than the pessimist. This person, on the other hand, doesn't take risks. Their fear of losing is so great that it paralyzes them. And although it's true that they don't lose this way, the truth is they don't gain anything either.

The pessimist remains in the same place. Life, in reality, rewards action. Projects come to fruition, companies are founded, discoveries are made, because someone decided to act despite the possibility of failure. Even despite having failed before.

He who doesn't play, has already lost by default.

Secondly, the optimist's energy is tangible and productive. Generally, optimism makes us cheerful, good-natured, and in a good mood.

This isn't just about feeling good. A person with a positive attitude is more resilient to frustration, more persevering. They attract others, foster collaboration, and build and strengthen teams.

A pessimist, with their constantly looming gray cloud, only succeeds in driving away opportunities and the people who could help them. Positive energy is a social asset as real as money.

Optimism can sometimes be more important than money itself. It can open doors that pessimism keeps closed.

On the other hand, the optimist always finds the bright side of things. This doesn't mean ignoring the bad. It means that, after acknowledging the problem, they actively look for the lesson, the hidden opportunity, or simply the aspect that allows them to move forward.

A setback becomes a lesson. A loss, a reason to reorder priorities. This ability to mentally recycle is crucial for survival and progress.
