Prying Eyes - TCSP Week 245 / Miradas indiscretas - TCSP semana 245 (eng-esp)

Hello, coffee friends around the world.
I've never been one to listen to other people's conversations. Rather, I shy away from these situations.
However, there are times, like the one I'm going to share with you today, where I confess I stayed seated, expressly to hear how the story ended.

One afternoon, after leaving one of the book fair activities, I was with my husband. We headed to Café Real and ordered a cup of cappuccino before continuing our walk home.

While we were there chatting, we suddenly noticed a conversation that caught our attention. So much so that we decided to keep quiet, open a book, and pretend to read while we drank our coffee.

It just so happened that at the table behind us, there was a couple in the middle of a courtship. The interesting thing was that the girl seemed interested in starting a relationship, but was unsure. I don't remember exactly what was said, as they talked for about 15 minutes. It turns out the guy had proposed to her, and she was between saying, I do, but...

The guy refuted all the objections she raised. I remember the girl saying she wanted to and that she liked him, but she had to focus on her studies, as she was about to start college.
To which he told her it was no problem, as his mother was a university professor and the two of them could help her. He wouldn't take away her study time; on the contrary, he could help her with her revisions.
Then the girl said she was religious. To which he also replied that he had no problem with religion, as he believed in all of them and practiced some.
Regarding this last point, I don't know if he said it jokingly or if he had talked about several before, or if he practiced all of them at once. I have no idea.

And so, while the girl kept saying yes, but, the boy responded and moved closer to her. He went from being on the other side of the table to holding her hand and running his fingers through her hair.

We enjoyed this interesting debate for the 15 minutes it took us to drink our cappuccino. It ended up being almost a frappuccino, we finished it so cold.
But we had to go. We left the budding couple in that state, still chatting after we left.
I haven't seen them together again, but I have seen them separately. I hope that one day life will tell me if they are or were together. I'd like to think the boy triumphed after so much insistence, and she lost her fear of commitment.

Hola, amigos del café alrededor del mundo.
Nunca ha sido una persona que gusta de escuchar las conversaciones ajenas. Más bien, le huyo a estas situaciones.
No obstante, hay ocasiones como la que les voy a compartir hoy, donde confieso que me quedé sentada, expresamente para escuchar cómo terminaba la historia.

Una tarde que me encontraba con mi esposo, luego de salir de una de las actividades de la feria del libro, nos fuimos hacia la cafetería Café Real y pedimos un paf de capuchinos antes de continuar nuestro camino hacia la casa.

Estando allá conversando, de pronto percibimos una conversación que llamó un tanto nuestra atención. Tanto, que decidimos hacer silencio, abrir un libro y hacer como que leíamos, mientras tomábamos el café.

Sucede que en la mesa de atrás nuestro, se encontraba con una pareja en pleno cortejo. Lo interesante de todo, parecía ser que la muchacha tenía interés en comenzar la relación, pero estaba insegura.
No recuerdo exactamente lo que se dijo, ya que estuvieron conversando por alrededor de 15 minutos. Resulta que el muchacho se le había declarado, y ella estaba entre un: sí quiero, pero...

Todos los peros que ella puso, el muchacho se los rebatió. Recuerdo que la joven dijo que quería y que él le gustaba, pero, tenía que concentrarse en su carrera, ya que iba a comenzar en la universidad.
A lo que él le dijo que no había ningún problema, ya que su mamá era profesora de la universidad y los dos podían ayudarla. Él no le robaría tiempo de estudio, sino todo lo contrario, podría ayudarla con sus repasos.
Luego la muchacha dijo que ella era religiosa. A lo que él también le respondió que no tenía ningún problema con la religión, ya que él creía en todas y practicaba algunas.
De esto último, desconozco si lo dijo en broma o es que había platicado varias con anterioridad o es que practicaba todas a la vez. No tengo idea.

Y así y mientras la muchacha le iba diciendo sí, pero, el muchacho daba una respuesta y se acercaba más a ella. Pasó de estar del otro lado de la mesa, a tenerla tomada de la mano y pasarle los dedos por su pelo.

Nosotros, estuvimos disfrutando de este interesante debate durante estos 15 minutos, en que demoramos en tomarnos nuestro capuchino.
Que terminó siendo casi un frapuccino de lo frío que lo terminamos.
Pero teníamos que irnos. En esas condiciones dejamos a la incipiente pareja, conversando aún cuando nos fuimos.
No los he vuelto a ver a los dos juntos, pero sí por separados. Espero que algún día la vida me diga si están o estuvieron. Quisiera pensar que el muchacho triunfó luego de tantas insistencia, y ella perdió el miedo al compromiso.
