Thanks to a suggestion from our friend @ylich, today I'm going to tell you about something that has me very excited: I was invited to the 1st Meeting of the Cuban School of Guitar, dedicated to the 90th birthday of my teacher, Jesús Ortega.

This festival, organized by the University of the Arts (ISA), will be held between the 18th and 19th of this month. That is, in less than 72 hours.

I'm going to share what they wrote about me in the announcement of my participation. I think these words are better than me talking about myself. It seems more appropriate.

🎶Elvira Skourtis Vives (Las Tunas, Cuba 🇨🇺)
Recognized as one of the most outstanding Cuban guitarists of her generation, Elvira Skourtis Vives has developed a solid artistic and pedagogical career that has made her a leading figure in the national guitar scene. Her work has been closely linked to the development of guitar instruction in the eastern region of the country, where she has trained numerous generations of young performers.

With a career spanning more than two decades of intense activity, she has participated in national and international festivals and events, and is a regular guest at the main guitar venues in Cuba. His art, marked by technical elegance and expressive depth, reflects the spirit and sensibility of the Cuban School of Guitar.

We are honored to have him present at the First Meeting of the Cuban School of Guitar, where his experience and talent enrich this space for exchange and celebration of our instrument.

At this event, I will perform a distinctly Cuban repertoire, which will, of course, include the 30 studies by Maestro Leo Brouwer, some of which I have shared with you. And, as the highlight, I will perform his work Rito de los Orishas.

I will also share this work here with the community later, as it is quite extensive.

For now, I will continue with the simple studies by Maestro Leo Brouwer. Today I will talk about study #14.

Leo Brouwer's study #14, like study 13, is for double ligature. It has a very lyrical and lyrical second part.

The bass line in this piece is played with the thumb.

Gracias a la sugerencia de nuestro amigo @ylich, hoy les contaré sobre algo que me tiene muy contenta: fui invitada al 1er Encuentro de la escuela cubana de guitarra, dedicado a los 90 años de mi Maestro, Jesús Ortega.
Este festival, organizado por la Universidad de las Artes (ISA), se va a celebrar entre los días 18 y 19 de este mes. O sea, dentro de menos de 72 horas.

Les voy a compartir lo que escribieron sobre mí en el anuncio a mi participación. Creo que es mejor estas palabras a que yo misma hable de mí. Me parece más correcto.

Reconocida como una de las más destacadas guitarristas cubanas de su generación, Elvira Skourtis Vives ha desarrollado una sólida carrera artística y pedagógica que la ha convertido en referente dentro del panorama guitarrístico nacional. Su labor ha estado estrechamente vinculada al desarrollo de la enseñanza de la guitarra en la región oriental del país, donde ha formado a numerosas generaciones de jóvenes intérpretes.

Con una trayectoria que supera las dos décadas de intensa actividad, ha participado en festivales y encuentros nacionales e internacionales, siendo invitada habitual en los principales espacios dedicados a la guitarra en Cuba. Su arte, marcado por la elegancia técnica y la profundidad expresiva, refleja el espíritu y la sensibilidad de la Escuela Cubana de Guitarra.

Nos honra contar con su presencia en el I Encuentro de la Escuela Cubana de Guitarra, donde su experiencia y talento enriquecen este espacio de intercambio y celebración de nuestro instrumento.

En este evento interpretaré un repertorio bien cubano, entre los que estarán, por supuesto, los 30 estudios del Maestro Leo Brouwer, parte de los cuáles he compartido con ustedes. Y, como plato fuerte, interpretaré su obra Rito de los Orishas.
Esta obra también la compartiré aquí en la comunidad, pero más adelante, ya que es muy extensa.

De momento, continúo con los estudios sencillos del Maestro Leo Brouwer. Hoy les hablaré del estudio #14.
El estudio #14 de Leo Brouwer, al igual que el estudio 13, es para los ligados dobles. Tiene una segunda parte muy lírica y cantábile.
El tema en esta obra, lo lleva el bajo y se ejecuta con el dedo pulgar.
