As an artist, I was impressed to learn about a woman who, from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, transgressed everything that had been established up to that point, both artistically and personally.

This famous American dancer rose to fame for being the first to dance barefoot and without a tutu. She was the first to decide that, in order to convey everything she wanted to express through dance, she had to free herself. Free herself from both physical objects and the established dogmas for, with, and toward women.
For this reason, she is considered the creator of modern dance.
For this reason, she is considered a paradigm of womanhood and artistry.

I read the book when I was very young, while still studying guitar at the Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA) in Havana.
At that time, to learn about the biography and work of an artist, or a person in general, the quickest way was through books.

That's how I learned how this dancer used the technology of the time to her advantage. At the same time, she exploited all her knowledge of different artistic forms and world history to create her choreographies.

Como artista me impresionó conocer de una mujer que, desde finales del siglo XIX y principios del 20 transgredió todo lo que estaba establecido hasta el momento desde el punto de vista artístico, como del personal.

Esta famosa bailarina estadounidense saltó la fama por ser la primera en bailar descalza en bailar sin tutú.
Fue la primera que decidió que, para poder transmitir todo lo que ella quería expresar a través de la danza, tenía que liberarse. Liberarse, tanto de los objetos físicos, como de los dogmas establecidos para, con y hacia las mujeres.
Por tal motivo, es considerada la creadora de la danza moderna.
Por tal motivo, es considerada un paradigma de mujer y de artista.

Leí el libro muy de joven cuando aún estudiaba la carrera de guitarra en el Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA) en La Habana.
En qué tiempo, para conocer la biografía y la obra de un artista o de una persona en general, la forma más expedida era a través de los libros.

Así me enteré como esta bailarina utilizaba la tecnología de la época a su favor. Al mismo tiempo explotaba todos los conocimientos sobre las diferentes manifestaciones artísticas y la historia universal para realizar sus coreografías.
Fue una pionera en el uso de los distintos tipos de telas y escenografías cada vez más impresionistas y minimalistas.
Isadora se alejó de todos lo clásicosy lo establecido para crear algo nuevo. Algo suyo.
Algo que, como todo artista, quiere: crear con libertad.
Ella lo consiguió.
