Family First - LOH Contest of the Week #260 / Se piensa primero en la familia - concurso LOH de la semana #260 (eng-esp)
Hi, girls!
Our friend @merit.ahama reminds me of my grandma again with her questions for this week's community quiz #260.
I've already told you that my grandmother was and is the most important and influential person in my life. I've received the greatest advice of my life from her wisdom accumulated over so many years.

No one else could have given me the best advice of my life, the one I always follow:
Think of your children. Always think of them.
And I've done it at every moment of my life. For example, when I was offered a Master's degree in Arts, I already had a career as a guitarist. I had already made a name for myself. Technically, I didn't need a master's degree.
At least, that's what I thought.

However, when I thought about them and my insistence that they study and constantly improve themselves, I realized that I couldn't demand anything of them if I didn't set an example. Besides, if I earned a master's degree, I would increase my professional level, and that would reflect better on my status and my finances.
Therefore, it was also better for them in every way.
When I earned my doctorate, it was the same. And today my children can be more than proud of me.

Of course, I also think about them when it comes to personal matters. In fact, the reason they were born and live in Las Tunas and not Havana was with them in mind.
There's no decision, big or small, that I don't make with them in mind. Not just about me, but about what would be best for them.

What's best for them is what's best for me, and what's best for me isn't necessarily what's best for them.
But yes, even if it sounds cliché or somewhat sugarcoated or idealized, it's the truth. I am a mother. I am an artist, a teacher, and everything else, but I am a mother first, and they are my responsibility.

So they will always come first. I do what my grandmother advised me: I think of them.
Then, I can exist.

Hola, chicas!

I always thought mothers are meant to just love and always think of their children until I saw some mothers who didn't bother to consider their children. So it's a great advice from your grandmother and you have kept it at heart.
