A woman who makes history in science / Una mujer que hace historia en la ciencia (eng-esp)

Hello, ladies!
The other day I was talking about women who justify their lack of success in their careers because they are women, mothers, or both women and mothers.
Today, I'm bringing you a great friend and pediatrician as an example of the exact opposite. I knew her before my children were born, and since then, she has been the one who has treated them when they are sick.
Meet PhD Yordania Velázquez Ávila: the first National Prize winner of the Cuban Academy of Sciences from the province of Las Tunas. The first and only one so far.
In her words, she is happy and proud doubly so: for being a woman and for being a woman of science.

Yordania holds a PhD in pediatric dermatology.
I met her because she's the mother of a former guitar student of mine, Eldir. I have the pleasure and pride of having graduated from him, and today he's a great guitar professional abroad.

She has always been a concerned and busy mother to her son.

Yordania is a living example that our condition as women and mothers is not an impediment to our personal fulfillment, nor to being at the forefront of science and art in our country.
Yordania not only studied medicine, but also specialized in pediatric dermatology; She then completed a second degree in the specialty, followed by her master's degree, and later her doctorate.

To this day, she continues to work at the pediatric hospital in Las Tunas. At the same time, she has maintained her reputation as a researcher, which earned her this prestigious award from the Cuban Academy of Sciences.

She is a loving and caring woman. When my son fractured his arm, she didn't leave our side until we left the hospital.

While some women complain and justify their failures, frustrations, or difficulties with the famous double work shift (working at home and at work), Yordania takes care of her mother, her son, her husband, studies, researches, and works.

It's not easy. We know it, but she can do it. And if she can do it, we all can.

For that and many other reasons, I'm using my voice in this community to show you a person I'm proud to call a friend of.
I'm proud to be her friend and to have taught her son, leading him to a degree in classical guitar.

Her son, Eldir, is a talented and studious young man. We now know where he inherited these qualities.

Yordania is an example of female empowerment, an example of professionalism and womanhood: she is an example of excellence.

Hola, chicas!
El otro día hablaba de las mujeres que justificaban por no tener éxitos en su carrera, debido a su condición de mujer, de madre, o de mujer y madre.
Hoy les traigo de ejemplo de todo lo contrario a una gran amiga y pediatra. La conocí desde antes del nacimiento de mis hijos y desde entonces, es ella quien los ha atendido cuando se enferman.
Les presento a PhD Yordania Velázquez Ávila: la primer Premio Nacional Academia de Ciencias de Cuba, que tiene la provincia Las Tunas. Primera y única hasta el momento.
Según sus palabras, está feliz y orgullosa por partida doble: por ser mujer y ser mujer de Ciencia.

Yordania tiene un doctorado en la especialidad de dermatología pediátrica.
La conocí porque es mamá de un ex alumno mío de guitarra: Eldir. Tengo el placer y el orgullo de haberlo graduado y hoy es un gran profesional de la guitarra en el extranjero.

Siempre ha sido una madre preocupada y ocupada de su hijo.

Yordania es el vivo ejemplo, de que nuestra condición de mujer y de madre no es impedimento para nuestra realización personal, ni para ser de la vanguardia científica y artística de nuestro país.
Yordania no solamente estudió la carrera de medicina, sino que hizo la especialidad en dermatología pediátrica; después hizo un segundo grado de la especialidad y luego hizo su maestría y más adelante el doctorado.

Hasta el día de hoy continúa trabajando en el hospital pediátrico en Las Tunas. Al mismo tiempo ha mantenido su perfil como investigadora, lo que la hizo merecedora de este prestigioso premio de La Academia de Ciencias de Cuba.

Es una mujer cariñosa y preocupada. Cuando mi niño se fracturó el brazo, no se separó de nosotros hasta que salimos del hospital.

Mientras que algunas mujeres se quejan y justifican sus fracasos, frustraciones o imposibilidades con la famosa doble jornada laboral (trabajar en la casa y en el trabajo), Yordania se ocupa de su madre, de su hijo, de su esposo, estudia, investiga y trabaja.

Fácil no es. Lo sabemos, pero ella lo consigue. Y si ella puede, todas podemos.

Por esa y muchas otras razones, utilizo mi voz en esta comunidad para mostrarles a una persona de la que me siento orgullosa de llamarme su amiga.
Estoy orgullosa de ser su amiga y haber sido maestra de su hijo, hasta graduarlo en la especialidad de guitarra clásica.

Su hijo, Eldir, es un joven talentoso y estudioso. Ya sabemos de dónde heredó estas cualidades.
Yordania es un ejemplo de empoderamiento femenino, es un ejemplo de profesionalidad y de mujer: es un ejemplo de excelencia.
