Riona: Ofotonku the Tyrant King

Riona is an African magic and African magic show case series that was aired few years ago. The series is centered around a tyrant king who ruled a small village called Oyomere some times ago and wish to live and rule forever.

Prophecy came through Oparumale Arayinka (pristest) that the king Olojah Ofotonku will be killed by children born in the night of dark moon but the gods did not reviewed the night to anyone. Arayinka gave the prophecy as she was given then the king started to plot in other to outsmart the gods.

Ofotonku planed with his right hand man to kill all the children that was born on the night of dark moon. But his favorite wife queen Mofe who was also pregnant at that time find ways to keep her child Aghan save. So also was Tsema keept save by an iriale(people of lower class). And a wizard child who is supposed to be the ancestor was keept save and raised by a wizard who lives in the bush.

This three children and the innocent dead people all came back to life to put an end to king Ofotonku's tyrance by taking his life there by returning peace and sanity back to Oyomere. They also help to put an end to the surfing of the people by breaking the barrier of class between the Iriale(lower class citizens) and omajahjah (first class citizens)

Themes

There are so many themes in the series and some of them are of love , betrayal, power, class, struggle and destiny. A lot of notable actors brought their A game to the table in the production of the series. Few of them are Frank Konwea(Ofotonku), Jasmine Olarotimi(Young and old Tsema), Mimi Chaka (Queen Mofe), Agha, Arayinka and Jolomi.

Rating

The film showcase the real language and culture of the Tsekeri people of Nigerian, it also reminds us that nothing lasts forever. In rating, I will rate the series 7 out of ten (7/10.)

One thing I do not really enjoyed in the series is the conclusding part. Not that it was not interesting but the color was very poor. Though it was giving night vibes but we can have a night scene with more lightling right?. Nollywood is improving I believe.

The story was written by Ifeanyi Barbara Chidi and produced by James Omokwe. It has 260 episodes with each episode lasting for thirty minutes.
