Not a tech slave.
Good day everyone, welcome to my blog.
Since the holiday started, the routine in my home has changed a lot. I allow my boys to sleep and wake anytime of their choice without minding because they will not be going to school through August.
My children do not attend summer school not because I am broke but because I want them to have a real break once a year. The system of education in my country hardly allows students to have breathing space
They resume school by seven or eight in the morning and come back by four in the evening. They are only entitled to thirty minutes break with loads of curricular activities with little or no extra curricular activities for three months or more.
Recently, I found out that my children are abusing the privilege given to them. Instead of having normal day to day activities, they practically want to sleep and wake up with a screen. They move from television to computer as energy company interrupt and restore it.
Yesterday night for example, I thought everyone had gone to bed. Around two in the morning I had some laundry to do then I saw my second son watching an animation series. I warned him and he apologized and pretended to have gone back to his room.
I noticed he was still glued to the television when I was trying to make my way back to my room. We settled it but it got me thinking all day and I have come to the conclusion to reduce their screen time and engage them in other activities like reading and brain taxing games.

I don't want them to become slaves to technology, they need to know when and where to stop. I have brought out few from the books I have in my library and am willing to buy more. Everyone must read one book per day and summarize what he has read with everybody.
I hope this invention of mine helps. If you know any other way I can engage them, kindly suggest it to me.
