HN-ANNIVERSARY COMMUNITY DRAINAGE SYSTEM.

How do you see rain? Do you see it as a curse, blessings or the mixture of both?. The occupants in the community where I stay can tell you for free that rain can be a curse and a blessing at the same time.

Rain is a blessing to my community because it makes us to have a cool weather aiding a good night rest, it also make the plants in our subsistence garden grow. Lastly, it makes people with reserved drainage to be able to release thier waste water to the street.

You read that well, yes to the street and that is because my community lack proper drainage system and its very man to himself. For this reason, if I am to single handedly do something for my community, it will be the provision of a good drainage system.

When ever it rain in my community,we practicaly have to swim or walk in stagnant water before we get to the bus stop. It usually become difficult for people with car, motorcycle or autoristure(tricycle) to drive out making a lot of people stranded and unable to go to their place of work or appointments

I intend to build more drainage system to the already existing ones and also clear the already blocked ones making sure that all the waste water goes straight into the canals instead of it flowing in to and flooding the street while creating unwanted swimming pool for all.

To get this done, I intend to collaborate with all the landlords whose houses are on the lane that leads to the drainage, talk to them to build a drainage in from of thier houses, will also make them to be aware of the danger involved in leaving the gathered water in front of their houses.

Informing them about the depreciation or devalue that the stagnant water can cause their property. I will also join hands together with this landlords to calculate the estimate of the repair that may occur from the stagnant water to thier property and the cost of building a drainage. I am sure the cost of drainage will be way cheaper and affordable.

Lastly, I am going to partner with some reasonable landlord in my community to generate needed funds to support the landlords on the drainage lane. I know you are thinking that this is not supposed to be an individual project but government’s well, wellcome to Check Point Badagry Lagos where I am not sure if the government knows we exist.

If after getting funds from the occupants of the community we are still unable to generate enough funds to support the landlords on the drainage lane, i am going to seek support from external road users who brings in their products into the community for distribution regularly, though its going to be a voluntery donation and not compulsory.

The generated funds will be used to buy some of the needed material in drainage building in bulk and it will be shared to the affected landlords as the community contribution while we will give them the time frame of at least four to six months to get the drainage ready because they might need to source for money to complete the drainage.
