FICTION221. Quite Mouse.

We call her Dami for short but her real full name is Oluwadamipe. Oluwadamipe was living with her mother like myself some years back. We became friends because we usually go to the stream and the farm together.

Dami likes to talk about everything and anything with me. With her around there is always something to gist about. Every one in the village were aware of our friendship and always look forward to seeing us together.

People will ask her about my whereabouts in my absence and will ask me about her's in her absence. Suddenly Damipe became quite as a mouse around me and I began to fell uncomfortable so I addressed it with her.

On one of our numerous visit to the stream I called her saying Oluwadamipe I understand that I might have done something to offend you in any form but I am sorry and will also be happy if you can tell me what I did wrong so I will avoid such in the future.

To my surprise, Damipe said I did not offend her in any way. She said 'my quiteness is not because of you but rather I have been thinking about alot of things'. After the conversation I left her to enjoy her quiteness because I believe people need time to themselves.

Suddenly, Damipe started avoiding me and started giving excuses for not going to the stream nor farm with me but I did not read any meaning to it. Not long before then, I saw her moving with another girl in the neighborhood whose name was Lade but I maintain my cool.

Not too long after, their friendship went sour and Damipe came back to me but she did not meet the friend she left because I felt disappointed when she left me for another friend. My thought was that she would have introduced Lade to me too and we could have become three friends.

I got the biggest shock of my life when Damipe told me her reasons for bailing out on me. She said Tolu my friend, I am sorry for betraying our friendship the way I did. It was not intentional. I stop talking and doing things with you because of what Lade told me about you.

Lade had told me that your family whom you are living with are planning to relocate to the city with you and the thought of being by myself when you are gone made me to accept and build friendship with her.

I found out she had been lieing to be when I heard her talking to her younger bother Kayode yesterday. She told Kayode that she was envious of what we shared and she was happy that it was all over.

The movement I heard, that I confronted her and told her never to call me her friend again. So I have come here to apologize and plead with you to please let us continue our friendship.

Unlike Dami, I gave her a piece of my mind. I told her she would have asked me about what she heard and I also mentioned giving her the advantage to talk but she refused to take it. After alot if pleading we became friends again and our friendship became stronger because we no longer keep secrets.
