Cindy and the boat cruise.
Good day everyone, welcome to my blog.
The serenity of the compound was cut short on Thursday morning by the preacher who lives next door. He appears to be scolding a girl who happens to be a daughter to a single mother in his congregation.
His voice could be hard echoing across the street like a trumpet on the day of resurrection. He was scolding the girls at the same time preaching the gospel, using his one stone to kill three birds.
His first bird is the girl whom he was talking to, his second bird is the lost sheep who he was preaching to and his third bird is the late riser who likes to wake up late.
Talking to the girl he said what were you thinking when you left the house without returning for four days? Did you consider your mother or sibling at all? All the girl could do in response twas just to wail. It was so loud that I could hear everything from my room.

After rebuking the girl for about twenty minutes, my backyard neighbor came to them to inquire what made them disturb our early morning solitude. The girl's mother then narrates what led to the scolding event.
As she was about to start her narrative, I quickly went to use the restroom and returned to my room so I would not miss any details from her story. She said Cindy left the house four days ago and got back just this morning.
My backyard neighbor then asked did you send her an errand to somewhere far away that she had to sleep over? The woman said no, I only sent her to go to the store to get some groceries for the house and she said she was going to stop at Toddy's place to say hi.
By this time, the preacher had asked one of his sons to bring chairs so they could sit. They were seated while I was standing holding the burglary of my windows and hiding behind the curtains because I do not want to miss a glimpse of the story.
The woman continued “I called Toddy's and she said Cindy had not been to any place all day but she would call back if she comes to her house anytime soon. I could barely eat nor do anything all through that day. By ten pm at night, I had to put a call across to Toddy again for the fifth time that day and she gave a negative response as usual.
I contemplated going to the police to file a missing person case but I knew I would not be attended to because it was not yet up to forty eight hours since she left the house. By six in the morning the following day, Toddy's call came in and she said mummy, I called our other friend and she said Cindy told her that she will be spending the weekend at her boyfriend' house.
A breath of relief, at least I now have an idea of where she meant to be unlike initially when I feared she might have been kidnapped or held hostage against her will. By ten in the morning, I was already at Toddy's house.
When I got there, her parents offered me a breakfast of lentils pudding and broccoli but I couldn't bring myself to eat much. I ate little after being without food for more than fifteen hours then we called the other friend that Toddy was talking about on the phone the other time.
When we called the first time the call went straight to voicemail, then Toddy said we should wait for another hour as Laju the other friend might have gone to swim. While waiting, the one hour seems like a whole week but I had to wait all the same. At last we called and Laju picked., She said my Cindy told her during a conversation that she would be spending the weekend celebrating her boyfriend's birthday on a boat cruise.

I had to report what I was able to gather to my pastor here who assured me that we should keep all fingers crossed and believe that she will return home safely. I kept all hope alive as he said and today by seven in the morning, her royal majesty appeared at my door step without a starch claiming that she lost her way".
By the time the woman concluded the story, I was angry to my bone. Thank god that girl is not my child else today would have been her wedding ceremony. My back yard neighbour advised that the girl should be made to live with the preacher and her mother agreed.
Thanks for taking your time to read through, Yours truly @elizy, a teacher, mother and passionate writer

This was such an engaging read. I could almost hear the preacher’s voice “echoing like a trumpet on the day of resurrection.” The suspense as you followed the mother’s narration kept me hooked. The twist about Cindy spending days at her boyfriend’s boat cruise instead of the store was unexpected. I liked how you captured the emotions of worry, relief, and even anger so vividly.
Thank you
I can also relate with you that she must have really felt a very strong relief at that particular time. Everyone will have felt that way
Yes you get it
What a captivating and emotionally rich story I loved how you captured the essnce of community and faith in your narrative. Thank you for sharing it! Blessing ❤
That girl shaa deserves a heavy flogging till ger brain resets. That was a selfish action. I'm already getting angry too😭.
I really loved this narration
Walahi if no be say nah oyinbo narratives, the ending fir shock every body
Cindy, a disobedient young woman, went to celebrate her boyfriend's birthday. Thank goodness they handed her over to the pastor. Have a happy day.
Thank you for reading. And you too
The Girl sure needs flogging. If it's Africa, my beloved country to be precise and my wonderful tribe, the girl would have known what she's in for.
Cindy did not do well at all. What if something had happened to her. All the same that God she came back with life.

An interesting piece. An experience will be learned when living in an unruly way, as only a few have luck with that. Wishing her the best of luck.
Thank you
Hello, @ellizy
What a story! Although I'm not surprised to hear it. Teenage escapades have been common, and so have the consequences of these excesses. Children raising children! In a way, these young people are hijacking their future and alienating the dignity of future generations for a moment of madness.
Greetings.
Hummmm thoughtful. Thank you
Cindy must be a teenager. Na their way. Always disobedient and doing what pleases then until the get into trouble. Thank God she was fine.
Yes she is. Thank you for reading
What a beautiful story, well I'm a bit disappointed at Cindy but then she was lucky.
Very lucky. Thank you
