Wednesday Walk: A Walk to Lawrence of Arabia's Grave, Smooching Robots and Tanks!

While holidaying in Dorset, UK, we decided to visit the grave of Thomas Edward Lawrence, famously known as "Lawrence of Arabia." The grave was in a nearby cemetery at St Nicholas Church, Moreton, Dorset, UK. I'd not heard about his exploits before but I quite like looking around graveyards. According to a nearby plaque, he was a British archaeologist and army officer who became well known for his leadership during the Arab Revolt against the Ottoman Empire in World War I. He was a rather complex man, so the jury's out as to whether he was good or bad, or perhaps he was a bit of both.

The cemetery was only small, so it wasn’t long before we found his grave. It was probably the best looked after grave in there. From here, we decided to walk to where T E Lawrence was tragically killed in 1935 in a motorbike accident (or was he taken out?).

On the way, we spotted a quirky piece of metal sculpture. It looked like smooching robots. Someone on Facebook said they used to be outside a nightclub, was purchased and placed here. I don’t know the artist, though.

We passed T E Lawrence's home at Cloud's Hill near Bovington. It is now owned by the National Trust, and you have to pay to go in. Unfortunately, I couldn’t really get a decent shot of the house as we walked past.

Bizarrely, the scene of the motorbike accident was right next to Bovington Tank Range, where T E Lawrence did some training.

It was fairly quiet until the tanks and army vehicles started speeding past!

For my #wednesdaywalk, initiated by @tattoodjay, it was an informative one and a little bit bizarre!
