My Little Friend the Butty Bach

I haven't had a beer since Christmas, so while I was in my local supermarket, I purchased a bottle of Butty Bach. I've never heard of it before but apparently 'butty bach' means 'little friend' in Welsh.

I did wonder how I could keep my beer blogs interesting. It was raining outside, so I decided to have a photoshoot out in the rain. This is how I found myself walking around my village in bad weather! While I was taking this photograph, a young couple and their children walked past. The man said "Are you ok?" Around here, that is the same as saying "hello", so I just said, "yes, thanks". I did wonder afterwards, perhaps he was genuinely asking me if I was ok. It's not often you come across someone photographing bottles of beers in puddles etc. 😁

The beer is brewed at the Wye Valley Brewery in Herefordshire, England and has an ABV of 4.5%.

On the back of the bottle, it's the first time I've noticed the pregnancy warning sign on the label informing women not to drink while pregnant. Perhaps it's been there for a while, and I just don’t buy enough beer to have noticed.

It is described as burnished gold in colour. It has a malty aroma and a sweet taste. For a 500 ml bottle costing £2.55, it wasn’t too expensive. I must admit, I do go for the cheaper beers in case I don't like them. Normally, I prefer dark beers, but I was pleasantly surprised, as I thought this beer had a bit of a kick to it. I find amber beers a little bit samey, but this one stood out, and I'd certainly buy it again.
