My Entry to the CCC's Street Art Contest #278.

A few weeks ago, I posted a mural in my home town by Peachzz, aka Megan Russell. It was only half done but I popped into town this morning, as it's now complete. The mural depicts the market place with fruit, flowers, food etc with some familiar additions.

At the bottom left of the mural, there is a nod to singer Buddy Holly who visited Chesterfield in 1958, during his UK tour with The Crickets. Apparently, he walked through the market place with bassist Joe B. Mauldin. The artist has painted his famous spectacles and initials.

The horse depicts one of three shire horses that used to take refuse from the market place, from the 1980s to 2012, using beloved horses like Ben, Captain, and Sam.
